Grace Lutheran Preschool

This is my church! I love the worship services and the music. Activities for kids and adults and seniors as well as local ministry opportunities including food bank distribution and sewing circle for nursing homes and worldwide relief.

Beautiful Easter service. Warmly greeted. Enjoyed procession, children's time, choirs, choice of music. Lovely worship space and well kept grounds.

From Grace Lutheran's website, "The ministries at Grace—our worship and music, ... our ministry to the community, ... all exist on the foundation and mission of Sharing God’s Grace." How sad that this welcome was not extended to a dear family seeking to hold a Christian celebration of life service in one of the few locations in Woodstock large enough to support the number of people expected to attend. Because the Christian music was not in their hymnbook, it was not allowed. Because the music was not to be sung in unison by the entire congregation, it was not allowed. Rigid rules regarding how many people could speak excluded those who had been asked to participate. The Presbyterian order of worship was denied because it did not fit exactly with the Lutheran liturgy. This church had a wonderful opportunity to open their doors to people in need and share in Christ's message of love and redemption, and instead they chose to shut the door. I truly believe that Jesus would have wept at this legalistic approach to "sharing God's grace." God did indeed provide a space for this family to celebrate the life of their beloved son, brother, father - but Grace Lutheran squandered an opportunity to be Christ to the community.

Very nice people. This place is where DAP is on every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. DAP helps low income families in McHenry county with paying Bill's, help with clothing, shoes, and other financial situations

Beautiful service and congregation. Dynamic pastoral leadership. Lovely grounds and facility.
