What Parents Say
Discovery Point #26 receives highly mixed reviews. Most parents praise the pre-K teachers and staff attentiveness, reporting strong child development and daily communication. However, several recent reviews detail serious concerns about management dismissiveness, inadequate infant supervision, diaper care standards, and inflexible policies.
This discovery point is the best in Cherokee county. The staff are amazing! After having my daughter here for a few months, I can really see the staff go out of there way to make sure every child gets outstanding care, and attention. The teachers here will update you throughout the day and even send pictures of your child. This is one day care I can fully trust. I never have to worry whether or not my daughter is in good hands when I drop her off. Thanks for all you do!
My daughter has been at this Discovery Point since she was three. She loves this school and the director has always been professional. The director has always gone out of her way to make sure that my daughters needs have been met. The director is easy to work with and is very understanding. I think this is a great school.
I had previously written a 5 star review on this daycare but have deleted it based on my most recent experience here. I had to take my 6 month old daughter out of this daycare because she came home twice with a diaper rash. The second time was severe and she was bleeding. The first time I was told that my daughter woke up from a nap and was crying and in pain and the teacher seen that her bottom was red and irritated. We specifically put on our enrollment paperwork not to use anything other than a baby wipe and they were supposed to contact us if she does develop a diaper rash. I never received a phone call and was not told when I picked her up that day. I didn't know about it until I got home that night and seen the diaper rash myself. I immediately texted the Assistant Director, Stephanie, and she said she would get to the bottom of it as she was out that day. I accepted what I was told about what happened, and the rash went away the next day. The second diaper rash I found when I got my daughter home around 6pm and according to her daily sheet her last diaper change was at 340pm. They only change diapers every two hours here which is ridiculous. A child could be left in a dirty diaper until they change them in two hours. Again, nothing was mentioned to me that my daughter had a diaper rash or was irritated down there or anything. And I get home and change her and find her bottom red and bloody. I took photos and texted Stephanie again and she said she was unaware of any rash on my daughter but would find out what happened. The next morning I went in person to talk to Stephanie and show her the photos of my daughter and she said "Well the teacher did not do this intentionally". I told her that I was picking up the rest of my daughter's things and she told me that she would have to let the higher ups know that we were leaving because they require a two week written notice for withdrawal and that I may have to pay for the next two weeks. Are you kidding me!? My daughter has never had a diaper rash until she started at this daycare. I should have taken her out the first time it happened before it got this bad. I will NOT RECOMMEND this daycare to anyone!
My kids went there for kindergartens, One of them is now in high school and one in third grade. My third grade been there for ASP and summer camp, and he's there for this summer again. The second week that he had the field trip we was literally five minutes late, when I was on the way to school I saw the bus was driving pass even before the time was supposed to leave. By the time we got to the school I got told my son missed the bus and I have to take my son home because all the teacher were gone and they have no room to put him. Ann Marie is new staff and most of the teacher we know is no longer there. My kids been there so many years but I have never had any issue. I think this is ridiculous that your kids miss the bus on field day and you have to stay home keep your kid and still have to pay for it. Thank God that we have more daycare around here. I'm not happy with the way they handle. Not recommend...
I give this place 4 stars and that is strictly because of the pre-k teachers that my son has. He was in a private daycare and we moved him to this location when we realized it was free state funded pre-k and couldn't afford private tuition any longer. I love love Ms. Kathy and Ms. Olivia and so does my boy. I will admit, the manager is not the friendliest pup in the pack. I feel very awkward around her and very judged. My kids are on the free lunch plan in Cherokee county. My son in high school gets free meals, yet I have to pay $30 a week for food for my toddler(which, no. he doesn't eat that much in food). I think it's ridiculous. A little frustrating, but I'll deal with it because again, we adore Ms. Kathy and Ms. Olivia.
