Parish Day School is so much more than a “daycare” (I say daycare because they accept children as young as 2). From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that every teacher and administrator genuinely knows and cares for each child. My son can struggle with transitions, and without me even asking, his teachers came up with thoughtful ways to encourage him and help him feel comfortable. An event occurred today that sparked to motivation for me to come here and write this. My son often struggles with parting ways with little things that he finds throughout the day at the school(they are little treasures that he likes to bring home to me) whether it’s a little piece of paper from a craft they were doing or an acorn from the playground outside- he can have a tough time if he misplaces them. Well today his teacher presented me with a little plastic box with his name on it. She recognized that he struggled with this and came up with a solution on her own that he was so excited about. Rather than viewing his meltdowns as a burden, she made it a learning experience for herself as a new teacher at the school- and she made it a moment for him where he felt validated. He now knows that they care about his little treasures just as much as he does. It really melted my heart. (This teacher was Ms. Chelsea) It’s obvious they see each child as an individual and understand them on a deep level. The administration even knows each child by first and last name—something that speaks volumes about the level of care and attention they give. The school is constantly offering activities not only for the students but for the entire community. During the summer, they make sure the kids get outside to enjoy water play and all sorts of fun outdoor activities. Throughout the year, the children go outside to the playground multiple times a day, which my son absolutely loves. Parish also provides meals and snacks, hosts parties for every holiday, and sends home adorable crafts constantly—I have an entire bin filled with artwork from just the past year. My little boy has never once told me he had a bad day here. Whenever there have been small behavioral concerns, they’ve been handled with such kindness and communication. I have always felt supported, never judged or shamed. My son has grown tremendously in confidence, creativity, and personality since starting here a year and a half ago. I truly wish he could stay at Parish forever. We cannot wait for our daughter to start in the 2’s class in a few weeks. This school has been such a gift to our family, and I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a preschool that feels like home. He will be staying until kindergarten. So far we have had 5 different teachers (2 for the first class he was in and 3 in the second when he leveled up) and every single one of them has been a gem. Ms. Yvonne& Ms. Brittany, Ms. Chelsea, Ms. Jen and Ms. Sarah- we love and appreciate you! Even though those were the teachers assigned to him, he’s still known on a first name basis by various other teachers throughout the school and so it really does make this place feel like home. If I could give them 6 stars I would.
I think the school could do a lot better with kids who have special needs. I hate to say it but as a Christian school I would think they would have more forgiveness and understanding for kids on the spectrum. Our child who was in preschool was “talked about” among teachers. We should expect more from educators especially with pre-k children. If your child is not on the spectrum I’m sure they will be treated fairly and with kindness. If not, I would find another school.
After touring several day-school/childcare facilities a year ago, Parish quickly became my #1 choice. It exceeded my expectations, and the environment they create for the children is truly the best I've seen. I feel 100% comfortable taking my child here and would recommend it to anyone. The staff is wonderful and very capable. I can really tell that they care about my child's safety, learning, and happiness! They also have a wonderful summer camp that is so much fun for the kids. Im so thankful that I have found a place for my son during the day that I can be comfortable with, it's so great to see him excited and happy to go to school everyday.
Have had such a beautiful experience with my children here ❤️
