I pulled my daughter out several months ago and after reflecting on our experience, I'd like to share some info that I hope can help this facility(if they choose to take it seriously) and prospective parents. 1. Parents deserve to have open communication with all parties involved with their children especially teachers. Directors being the first point of contact is not a good policy as it's the teachers that spend the entire day with the kids. After several months, incidents, and talks with the lovely Miss Dee , I still had no idea who my child's teacher was. What is the point of an app/emails if the teacher never has to respond? 2. All areas indoor/outdoor should be treated for pests. I'm sure my child wasn't the first to be bitten by mosquitoes but to this day I am still treating the many scars on her legs from being bitten on the playground in one day. 3. With toddlers, accidents will happen. But what should follow is an immediate phone call to the parent, followed up by an incident report also given to the parent. I requested this multiple times and was brushed off. I shouldn't have had to reach out to the daycare to find out what happened to my daughter both times she came home in lesser physical condition than I dropped her off. I appreciated my daughter learning Spanish and doing fun art activities but pls arm each class with enough teachers to provide close attention to the children or limit class sizes. At times during the pickup the teacher looked visibly overwhelmed.

Hands down amazing! The curriculum is top notch, the activities are age appropriate. The teachers are so kind and my daughter loves all her teachers and wants to go to school. They have little to no turn over rate it’s been the same teachers for two years she’s been there. They have weekly activities and even field trips. This is such a hidden gem and I’m so glad to call SBA home

The directors are not genuine in their interactions with parents and children. My child came home ravenously hungry everyday. We needed to drop our child off at their opening time, 6:30am in order to make it to work on time. One of the directors would show up religiously at 6:38am everyday and comment on our early arrival. We said “well you open at 6:30 don’t you?” She said verbatim “no, at 6:38”. They would also force my toddler to sit at a table until parent pick up and scold her when she stood up. For context, she was 2 years old at the time. I didn’t get to meet my child’s teacher until I asked and the teacher wasn’t able to give me specifics on my child, just vague and generic responses that could have been about any of the children there. The last straw for us was when our daughter came home with the ends of her hair in such a tight ponytail, she screamed when I tried to take it out and it took both me and my husband both holding her to cut it out with scissors. I never gave anyone permission to touch her hair and it caused damage and hair loss at the nape of her neck. I regret giving this daycare a chance and glad we went back to our old daycare.

If I could give this Academy a million stars I would! This is one of the best daycares in Smyrna period!! The whole entire staff is phenomenal! My son came here when he was 1 years old. He had an awful experience at his previous daycare and I was so hurt as parent that my son was being mistreated and I was afraid to put him back in daycare. But SBA change all of that! They treated my son like one of their own! My son is on the spectrum and they handled him with such love patience and care! They are the reason that my son has made such great progress and learned so much! I get so excited seeing the pictures and videos of what he’s doing throughout the day! All of the activities are by far the best I’ve seen from any daycare! They will forever be apart of my son’s village even after he leaves for kindergarten this year! It brings tears to my eyes that my son is leaving them this year for kindergarten but he will always be there for camp! Love you all at SBA!

This place is heaven sent! Literally!! When I first moved from out of town I was so nervous about finding a daycare for my daughter since it was her first time going. 4 years later she graduated from the pre-k program and went off to kindergarten. They were so great that when I had my second daughter I didn’t question what daycare she would go to. The owner runs a really tight ship, they are very well organized. The staff is so amazing! I get updates and pictures throughout the day of activities and arts and crafts that they are working on. And MOST of all, they are very LOVING! Both of my daughters love this school, if i could give them 1 million stars I would.
