Really great Facility. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable, polite, and exceptionally professional. Lots of stuff to do here. The basketball court area is a bit small. And the running track is definitely small. But, they do have a running track and they do have a basketball court.

This is my local Y that I’ve been visiting since I was in high school. I recently got into consistent weightlifting and I am here most of the week. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, shoutout to Robin who always puts a smile on your face. My only complaints are for the minimal parking and limited/dated gym equipment. Some of the machines like the leg press for example puts a lot of stress on my knees that I don’t experience when using the newer leg press machines at the Gig Harbor YMCA for example. Wish they had a hip thrust machine here as well. But overall a great and positive environment to workout. I enjoy that it’s not too overcrowded most days.

It’s extremely disappointing to see how this gym chooses to enforce rules while completely overlooking more serious issues. There seems to be no problem ignoring poor conduct in the facility, deteriorating equipment, and declining maintenance, yet staff are hyper-focused on preventing members from taking a simple sip of water in the sauna. That alone says a lot about management priorities. Instead of addressing falling equipment standards, aging facilities, and real safety or service concerns, management appears to over-staff the floor with employees who are placed in confrontational roles rather than being empowered to actually help members. Staff are put in a position where they enforce ineffective policies aggressively, while the root problems remain untouched. Banning water bottles in the sauna does nothing to solve misuse issues and only penalizes respectful, rule-abiding members. Meanwhile, the overall condition of the facility continues to decline, which is far more concerning. This reflects poor leadership, misplaced priorities, and a lack of thoughtful problem-solving. Members deserve better management, better maintenance, and a more reasonable, respectful approach

I used to go to this Y for nearly 20 years, but stopped during Covid. Why? The staff, including a new manager at the time, were absolutely rude and impatient with members. I have never seen such rude behavior towards long-time members, many of whom are elderly. I chose to take my money elsewhere by going to West Seattle Health Club instead. Surprisingly, WSHC is cheaper than the Y and closer to my home in Delridge. I have never regretted leaving. I can see from other, recent reviews that this Y has not improved since I left. Which tells me that I certainly made the right decision.

Why 5 stars? We are a nationwide YMCA family and for full transparency, this is not our home gym. A crucial part of the value we get out of the Y is the Kid Zone, and using this nationwide option as we travel. Some times my wife and I workout together, often times separately due to my work schedule, yet the Kids Zone allows us BOTH to spend 60-90 minutes hitting the gym. And that is pivotal to our health and wellness. This particular Y gym… is solid. Space is decent (I’ve seen smaller (our home Y) and some larger. This location had enough cable machines, 1 smith machine (so often we only find 1 🤷🏽‍♂️), and standard amount of benches, and quality weights for a Y. This gym was clean and the windows where a bonus as some locations have zero windows. Kids Zone… had time spots for all our 3 kids aged 3-10. Two of our kids when with their age range for outside fun and our older child went with her age group for basketball at the court gym. Our kids had A LOT OF FUN. They got excited for each morning to go and my wife was able to crush it in the weight room and return to our 3 bubbling recounts of the fun the had. Some tips: This may be obvious, check the kid zone schedule online ahead of time and FEEL ENCOURAGED TO CALL the office and CHECK the age range schedule (their paper schedule and online schedule had different details so the main branch connected us to their location to confirm there was space for all 3 of our heroes). Parking… avoid the lot if you can. Our family car was to big for all the compact car size spots. My wife found working 3 days straight in the front of the building between the hours of 10-12pm. Kids Zone schedules… many probably already know that schedule range significantly depending on the Y and this location had the most morning to noon options than the other Seattle locations. For a view of the weight room check out the clips and photos so you can better plan out your workout. 🙌🏽🙌🏽💪🏽💪🏽
