The experience was great. I loved the place and the staff members were very helpful. I definitely will recommend this place to everyone.
This community center is a life change for the Bronx community. NOT just because they have such a nice staff but the programs that they offer are incredibly affordable. The building is sparkling clean and the atmosphere is warm, I never feel out place in here. I truly recommend this place for you and your family. My son came here for swimming when he was around 5 years old now he is 12 taking hip hop and we love it!!
This community center is super clean, and the staff are really nice. It’s always well maintained, but heads up—the pool is super chlorinated, so make sure to clean up after swimming. The classes cost a bit much but still reasonable.
Extremely Disappointed with the Swim Program at New Settlement The swim program at New Settlement has been deeply troubling. The staff, for the most part, are unprofessional and rude. A major concern is the female staff members openly using the locker room alongside children under 8, discussing inappropriate topics like drug use, drinking, and romantic relationships — all within earshot of young kids. The lead instructors rarely, if ever, get into the water with the children. When questioned, they respond with hostility. Worse, they treat the kids as if they’re a nuisance, often yelling at them or even throwing footwear into the pool in their direction to get their attention. They embarrass children for their struggles and offer no encouragement or recognition when they actually do well. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in a program meant to build skills and confidence. To be fair, there are a few staff members who seem to genuinely care and know what they’re doing, but unfortunately, the negative behavior of the majority has severely tarnished the program’s reputation. I cannot recommend this swim program to any parent or program looking for a safe, supportive environment for their child.
I've been relatively happy with this center until now. I'm onto week 3 of coming back and they have yet to put up any shower curtains in the bathrooms for families and females. I mean with your increase in the annual fee do yall have no $ to buy curtains? Also I've complained several times and was told that they are aware and other parents have voiced concern...yet 3 weeks later here we are. Do better already.
