Community School of West Seattle is a total gem! The teachers and staff really know what they are doing, and are so warm and welcoming to every child. Our daughter’s classroom set up is amazing, with cozy nooks, nature inspired decor, art areas, and even its own outdoor space. She loves doing art in “Studio” and playing in “Big Yard.” For parents, drop off and pick up is easy and the school is great at communication. Would recommend this school to any family considering it!

I cannot say enough good about CSWS. I am overjoyed my eldest got to go here for a year, I wish she could have gone for two. My youngest just got in and we are so happy for her. The place absolutely emanates love and care for the students. I wish they ran an elementary school because I would enroll my children in a heartbeat. The teachers are all so wonderful and even though my youngest doesn't go here yet, the teachers and administrative staff all know her and greet her by name. The community here is so amazing. Additionally, the facility is great. Each classroom has it's own playground in addition to the large communal playground. They are part of the Seattle Preschool Program, so I highly suggest trying to get in through that program if you can. They currently have two SPP classrooms. Everything they do that is "atypical" makes sense when you ask them about it. They do such an excellent job easing the children into this new situation of preschool or a new preschool. The classes/teachers respond to the needs of the students and many of the teachers have children who go here or had children who went here.

My three children spent 4 magical years within the walls and playyards of CSWS. We have so much love for our dear teachers there, each one brought so much to our kids lives. I loved how much outdoor play they got in, rain or shine, and the work they did each day on the social emotional growth of all kiddos. As an educator I appreciated the developmentally appropriate curriculum that encouraged inquiry and exploration through PLAY and project based learning, with a Reggio flair. And COMMUNITY it is, I have made many good friends and connections myself throughout West Seattle for whom I have CSWS to thank.
