Amazing space and incredible community. I recently saw Charlie Cunningham play, and the acoustic were amazing, the two openers were awesome, just all around great music. It is an active church, but seems to be very community oriented. You can sit in the pews or they have open seating up front where people bring blankets. They serve drinks and some light snacks. They have a ton of cool events on their website. I find it a little hard to navigate, but the events and music are worth it! Plus, Mondays they have open yoga, I went for the first time last week and had a great time as well, definitely going back!
I got to see a group called Rising Appalachia here on 5/30/25. This is an amazing venue in the heart of Capitol Hill in Seattle. The production company that hosts events out of this venue is called Abbey Arts.
This review is for the yoga sessions on Mondays at 6:30 PM and the Yoga + Sound Bath they do every third Monday of the month. It's such a great program, and its donation-based--pay what you can. Just make sure to get there early if you want a good spot ( like at 6pm when the doors open) Trust me, you'll want to be up front or in the center, because being on the sides can make it a little tricky to hear the instructor. The yoga itself leans more towards a Hatha style, which is perfect for all levels. The instructor for the last Yoga + Sound Bath was amazing, and there's something so peaceful and relaxing about practicing yoga here, especially after one of *those* Mondays. The sound bath just takes it to a whole other level of zen. They have mats and blocks available, but it gets pretty packed, so bringing your own is a smart move. If you're looking to unwind, reset, and leave all that Monday madness behind, this is definitely the place to be!
I attended Sunday evening Compline service. This evening, for the first time ever the the Women's Schola made up the choir. It was beautifully sung. Before and after, attendees walked the labyrinth outside the main door of the cathedral. Young people set up comfortable places on the door of the cathedral with blankets, yoga mats and pillows.
I don't attend church here. They have an amazing pipe irgan and have a lot of free concerts and events. It is worth going. They post the schedule on their web page. In general, I think the church is pretty liberal and community focused.
