I recently returned to the North YMCA after about five years and was really impressed with the updated equipment. The facility itself looks great and I was excited to start working out here again. Unfortunately, our experience with the childcare was very disappointing. According to the posted schedule, childcare was supposed to be open until 11:30 am. We pay an extra fee for our daughter to attend the Y daycare. We arrived at the gym at 9:10, but the childcare was closed by 9:40. There were three staff members on duty, yet none of them were able to keep the childcare open. Because of this, my wife had to leave with our 6-year-old, and neither she nor I got the workout we had planned. I spoke with two front desk staff members, and while they apologized, neither was willing to reopen childcare. Since we recently moved closer to this YMCA, we were really hoping to make this our regular gym, but this left us wondering if this type of early closing is a common occurrence. The updated equipment is great, but reliability in childcare is just as important for families like ours. I hope this issue can be addressed so that members can count on the schedule that’s being advertised.
Staff is friendly. Childwatch is in an area you can workout but also check on your kids without leaving the cardio room to make sure they aren't crying. Some of the pool life guards are a bit too strict but overall a great experience. My son enjoyed the swim class there.
Sauna, hot tub, pool, steam room, all very cool. Nice gym
Large pool with plenty of lap lanes.Nice adult locker rooms that are always clean. Equipment and sauna is older, but everything seems to work just fine. I’ve had some issues with elderly men trying to flirt with me in the hot tub and am not comfortable using it anymore, but otherwise good.
Not exactly a fan of the Carpeted locker rooms. .
