What Parents Say
This facility appears to be primarily an assisted living and rehabilitation center rather than a traditional daycare, based on most reviews. Reviewers consistently praise the caring, professional staff, quality meals, activities, and clean facilities. One review mentions a daycare program (ILC) with positive feedback.
One star is to much. My dad was there maybe 6 hours. We got there and they said they had no information on he coming. Then had him put in a room took awhile for someone to come talk with us. We pushed the button for help a few time and got no help. We had to each time go find help. I got to know his roommate good thing when my dad fell off his bed the roommate was the one that got my Dad help! He has to go to rehab again and told the hospital he can't go back to where is came from. So he isn't! I picked up my Dad clothes and he is miss 3 shirts and a bag it was all in! Really.... First impressions is everything...go check the place out before making your decision.
Last year my mom decided it was time to move into an Assisted Living facility. As a longtime resident of West Seattle, she chose to stay in West Seattle to be close to family and her doctor and friends. She considered all of the options and selected "The Mount." She was looking for an apartment with a lot of natural light, where the food was good, and the schedule of the meals and assistance was flexible. She found that and so much more at The Mount. Now, a year later, we are so happy with her choice. EVERYONE on staff at The Mount has been incredibly welcoming and helpful. They made my mom's transition as smooth as possible and helped her meet people and feel included in the community. We love the "grill" menu--we can always get what we want to eat and the chef has even offered to create that special dish if we get hungry for something not on their menu. The seasonal activities are wonderful--lots of entertainment and decorations and good food. The aides help my mom with various things and they keep her laundry done, and the waste baskets in her room emptied multiple times a day. Everything in her apartment is so clean and fresh. What has stood out for me is that everyone from the Director, to the facilities workers, to the reception staff, to the nurses and aides, absolutely everyone takes time to care. They are never too busy or in a hurry. I love seeing how they live out their Christian values each and every day. My mom is thriving in her new home and we love that.
Do not place your loved ones here. Please. I used to volunteer here which is why I chose it for my mom. I will no longer represent much less step into this facility. My mom fell and broke her wrist the first month and despite the sales promises of being able to age in place, they said they couldn’t provide the care she needed. They said they could provide memory care, and the facilities are not at all present nor are the staff trained to work with patients with any level of cognitive decline. In addition, the families and residents are clear that the staffing levels are insufficient and inadequate. The only saving grace are the few care givers that give their heart every day but those are few and far between. The last week of my moms life, they only provided care when we demanded, and tried to move her out. We are still being sent bills that the business office knows were not her responsibility, to the point we might report for Medicaid fraud. Please save yourself the heartache.
Our mother has lived at The Mount assisted living apartments for almost two years now, and it's been a really good, supportive place for her. A few highlights: All the staff seem to know her and be aware of what's going on with her at any given time. She loves the activities, and the activities staff often call her to invite her to things they think she'll enjoy. Nurses, supervisors, and the social worker are very responsive and helpful when we have questions or concerns. There's a beautiful chapel on site with a range of types of services throughout the week. And, our mom consistently has good things to say about the food! All of this in a beautiful location, at a more affordable rate than most similar facilities, and with a 100-year history of doing this good work.
We had my mother in law at St. Vincent for 3 weeks as she was recovering from a hip fracture and we could not have been more satisfied with the care and rehabilitation she received. The staff are very caring and focused on the patient. We liked that we could get straight answers from the staff on her progress at any time as well as anything else that we needed. We also very much enjoyed working with the Social Worker Lisa, who was very helpful in managing the transition out of Providence as well as answering any non-medical questions. It may look like an older building, but looks are deceiving. What goes on inside is first rate care and rehabilitation, and we would recommend Providence St. Vincent to anyone needing this type of care.
