What Parents Say
Piedmont Family YMCA Childcare receives mostly positive reviews praising caring, dedicated staff and strong community engagement. However, some parents report concerns about management decisions, inconsistent treatment, rigid policies, and safety issues.
This center is special. Acknowledging our location at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center is already unique and powerful. Caring, supportive and dedicated staff who desire community and connection with each child and family, even through transitions and continued challenges of the industry. They are truly a resilient and remarkable group of teachers. Serving the area as 1 of only 2 nonprofit childcare centers it truly strives to have an open door for all families. My child (3) has been here since 9 months or so and it has been a really wonderful experience. Families have voice and choice and are celebrated along the way. We are so fortunate to have the Y Early Learning Center as part of the many other wonderful centers in our community.
Carli and senior director only care about themselves. They pick and choose parents they like and will only do things for them. They don’t care about your kids and they treat staff poorly Let me rephrase this because I don’t want parents to not bring in their kids. I do but only because the teachers are great and so is the assistant director. They truly care about the parents and the kids. They do most of the work. It’s just the senior director and Carli. They don't care about their staff at all, they don't care about the parents and pick and choose who to help out and who they don’t which is very discriminating.
Absolutely adore this school! The staff and teachers have treated us like family from day one and the quality of care they provide is above and beyond. As part of the YMCA, their mission and commitment to diversity, inclusion and child development is clear through the dedication of the staff. They also work with partners in the community to enrich the lives of the students and the Cville community as a whole. We think of them as our kids’ second home! Cannot say enough great things about this school.
We love the ELC! We have been there now for 6 years and are on our second kid and it feels like a second home. We love the teachers and how much they care about our kids. We get updates throughout the day and if we have ever had an issue, it's been addressed quickly. We also love the consistency, they follow city closures and they never have unexpected closings, which is so reassuring as a working parent.
We've loved our experience at the YMCA ELC! Our toddler has always had caring teachers who do a great job of communicating with us in person and via the app. They offer a variety of activities and bring in community partners for special events (music class 2x a week, free book bus, etc) that help enrich the daycare/preschool experience. We've been so happy with the skills that our daughter has learned and the friends that she has made in her time at the YMCA ELC.
