Congregation Beth Israel

I am forever grateful to this synagogue for their support of my family following my father's passing. Though our family was not part of the congregation, rabbinical pastor Heena Reiter made sure that my father had the reform Jewish funeral he wanted. She came to our home, spoke with our family, and helped guide us through our grief with the beautiful rituals of the Jewish tradition. Lukas Holldorf, the Communications & Connections Manager, was also exceptionally responsive, communicative, and kind when we reached out. It is clear that the people at Congregation Beth Israel are genuinely committed to serving the Charlottesville community. I'll never forget how our family was held and guided through a dark time by the generosity and support they showed us.

I grew up in Charlottesville when there were very few Jews. We didn't even have a Rabbi. Those days are long gone. Congregation Beth Israel is a vibrant synagogue; a warm environment where the Charlottesville Jewish community is welcoming, caring, and active! A special place with lots to offer!

I saw Rabbi Ezra's pride sermon last Friday. I was moved to tears along with several others in attendance. Wonderful temple. Everyone there is so kind.

I grew up going to this synagogue. It has a very strong community, lots of activities and events and a friendly congregation. Hebrew school and religious school are both offered here for the children. There are loads of things for adults to do as well, from learning Hebrew in the adult class to social action work and all the fun in between.

Congregation Beth Israel is more than a home away from home. It is my community.Thank you CBI!
