What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise Fauntleroy Children's Center for its experienced, stable staff (many with 20+ years tenure), strong community involvement, and quality educational programs. The facility offers extensive outdoor spaces, no screen time, and specialized activities like salmon raising and language instruction. One parent criticized the lack of transparency regarding the lengthy waitlist.
Our youngest son started at FCC in the Fall of 2022. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality childcare. We spent probably one or two months on the waitlist and were able to get him started in the 2's room. He's been through four of the classrooms since then and developed so many great friendships along the way. In fact, we just had his entire class over for his 5th birthday party. FCC expects parents to be involved in the success of their children and the success of the daycare, which I think is part of what makes this place work. You get to know the teachers and other parents really well. As with any educational institution, there are things that can and will be improved. The board and the director are strong and working hard to make FCC even better for the kids and families they serve. We will miss this place when our son moves to Kindergarten, but we are glad that another family will have the chance to experience FCC as a result.
I have two kids here and can’t speak more highly of this place. My oldest child started in the Snowflake room (~3 years old) and my youngest started in the Cloud room (infants); we have been at the center for almost 2.5 years now. FCC has teachers who have been with the center for decades and it is such a treasure to have my kids be in their care. My now almost 5 year old can count to 30 in Mandarin thanks to his teacher, and he participates in these awesome, collaborative class projects on the regular (the most recent being a giant dragon each kid helped paint for Chinese New Year). I especially love the outdoor spaces at FCC and how much time outside my kids get on any given day. My kids have made wonderful friendships here, and I have as well at the parent level. I feel so fortunate to be part of the community here.
This school is fantastic. They have been doing this since 1981! They have seen everything and understand the history and traditions. My daughter has been going for 2years and she is so happy. Most of her teachers have AT LEAST 20y AT FCC! Teacher turnover? Haha not here. I'm not saying they are perfect, but there are none of the shenanigans I hear at other schools. The teachers love the children. They also have that "nothing phases me bc I have seen it before" attitude. Oh and no screens. The kids also raise and release salmon every spring. There is a huge play area with multiple play structures, grass, and forest. Yes the waiting list takes forever, but that's true everywhere. And it's worth it. This is just preschool done the old school right way.
Our son has been attending FCC for the past 4 years and we love it. He started in the baby room at 6 months old and through each classroom stage (waddlers, toddlers, pre-k) we have felt the teachers have done an excellent job of caring for our child as well as guiding us as first-time parents. Our son has loved it all and we feel like he's truly prepared for entering kindergarten as a result of his time at FCC.
FCC is a great daycare, preschool and after school care facility, the teachers and staff are extremely caring and professional. Really love the community aspects of the centers family involvement. I have 2 kids that have attended from 3months of age through 7years.
