I’ve been attending for a little while now and wanted to share a few thoughts. Overall, I’ve felt somewhat disheartened. I came here hoping to find a sense of home and community—a place to grow closer to God after feeling isolated for some time. I understand that many churches speak Scripture differently, and that some believe certain lifestyles are sinful. However, it’s also stated that God views all sin equally. Whether it’s someone with tattoos, someone who may have spoken harshly, or someone who struggles with pride or lust—we all fall short, and that’s why Jesus came for us. Pastor Ed often says “all are welcome,” but it’s discouraging to hear repeated messages that single out specific groups of people, especially when it comes to discussions about sexuality. It can make others feel unwelcome or judged, even when they’re sincerely seeking God. Regardless of anyone’s stance or beliefs, I don’t think the pulpit should be a place for division. Scripture calls us first to love—to love our neighbors as ourselves and to be mindful not to judge others more harshly than we judge our own hearts. I truly believe that if the focus remained more on God’s love and less on certain social or political issues, more people would feel drawn to Christ instead of turned away. It’s disheartening that the environment doesn’t always feel welcoming or safe for everyone. In times when our world already feels so divided and tense, I had hoped to see more compassion extended to all people, from every walk of life. Our common ground should be our shared love for God and desire to live by His word. I’ll likely still visit from time to time, but I’ll also be exploring other places of worship where the message of God’s love feels more consistently extended to everyone.
My daughter connected me to this church and I listen online from wherever I am at on Wednesdays and Sundays. If I lived in San Antonio I would attend in person, because I always feel GODs love and spirit there. Last night, I was at the Rival Night and I was moved by seeing so many young people getting baptized...it's beautiful to feel the presence of God in the room. I hope to one day join the missionary group! Pastor Ed Newton thank you for leading the church with so much dedication! May GOD continue to BLESS this church!
I really enjoy attending CBC. There are hundreds of people that attend the 11am Sunday Service. I love the positive messages that I learn. The pastors have a sense of humor. I would recommend CBC to anyone.*9/29/24 - My family & I attended the 2pm service which was incredible! Pastor Ed opened my eyes to the fact that we need to teach our children to be aware of satanic symbols in music, etc. We need to worship God. Noone else. I highly recommend you go visit or watch the service online.✝️
Really enjoyed Pastor Ed’s sermon about the Holy Spirit. I was surprised at some of the negative recent reviews. It’s only my second time there and I found it very inviting, very courteous with the ushers finding us seats, and the sermon was straight from scripture. Love the worship team. Cant wait to go back!
Beautiful church very big church but still like Home small Church. Pastor Ed, pastor Marquise. Pastor Adrian are awesome Pastors. We moved here from California five years ago and when our son passed two years ago, the whole pastoral staff was there for us. They just don’t preach the gospel. They live it and love it. We’re so thankful for Cbc and for Pastor Ed for stepping up to the ministry.🙏🙏❤️🙏
