I have alot to say good and bad 1st good thing is that they have a food pantry when you come in so you leave food or take food. 2nd is that they have a board with some useful information about the town and events. 3rd they have a great resource call center and was able to get help even when I didn't get help in person. 4th they have a nice backyard play area Now for my rant 1 They tell you they have open availability but when you go in person they tell you they don't have availability. 2 They have a income restriction, if you help children you shouldn't be penalizing them cause they're parents make a "high income". 3 I had to call 3 times before I got a call back to be told we make to much. And she will see what the director says. I don't believe that. 4 When I took a look around and I did not see not one Hispanic, African American child 5 But my main problem is that they are supposed to help families and the truth is I did not feel helped after having my interview and having to call several times all to be too they have a income max which could have been told to me before I did the interview and we were talking. How are women supposed to re-enter the work force after having a child if this is our support system 6 let's stop blaming covid for under staffing
Community Action Center help me out when I was in need, and the staff are kind polite and very helpful I highly recommend it
Shlecy Pluekhahn is a terrible employee here. Will never work with this program again.
Been trying to get help with rent for nearly 3 months. 1st appointment I had set up was December 7th at 9am. I showed up, was told I was mistaken, and shown the door. Very bad communication and even after I gave them all the info the needed, they wanted to speak to the landlord directly. Was never told an amount I qualified for or any information that pointed towards progress whatsoever. I usually don't speak negative on businesses in public, but this one was weird. It honestly feels like I was denied for unspecified reasons and it was more of a personal rejection rather than not meeting certain criteria. I see all these single moms out there getting help from every which direction but this single dad that has 3 kids living with me can't get an ounce of help from social services, community action, or any other organization
Wonderful people, helped me and my family when the hard times hit, would go back there again definitely
