Chubby Cheeks Early Education Center

We entrusted Hivron and her team ever since our child was 4 months old until she “graduated” Pre-K and started kindergarten: over 5 years! We had visited several other daycares closer to us before our daughter was born, all of which were all fine, but we were struck by genuine warmth and care and compassion Hivron had for every single child under her care. Each child was treated with love first. Hivron sets the tone and the standard of care that she expects from all of her staff. It is never easy to let go of your child into the care of another’s, but Hivron and her team were always very communicative to us every day, including photos throughout the day, made possible by the brightwheel app. While they had a routine they followed each day, they understood each child and family had individual schedules, and they were incredibly flexible and rapidly responded if we had any questions or changes to our usual drop off or pick up schedules. They also followed a teaching curriculum for the older kids (4 and 5 years old) in the morning for Pre-K (and Pre-Pre K), that I can see has definitely prepared my daughter for Kindergarten, where she is already excelling at all the assignments given. But, they also allowed the kids to be kids and to do what kids love to do the most: PLAY! They have a great big indoor playroom, and outdoor play area, and individual rooms based on the age of each child to play with peers in smaller group settings. My daughter made lots of friends at Chubby Cheeks, some that she still is friends with at Kindergarten. I want to give special note to how understanding and flexible Hivron was when we had to take our daughter out of pre-school for several months due to medical issues, and due to concerns for her health during the early part of the COVID pandemic. We know that spots in daycares are hard to come by and pulling her out may not guarantee her a spot later on. But, Hivron always made room for us whenever we were able to bring our child back to daycare. Hivron also always gives extra attention herself to children that are extra struggling with emotional issues, such as crying from missing their parents (as was often the care with my child). She gave them extra hugs, and spent extra one-on-one time with them to help them feel better and get through the rest of the day. All daycares struggle with high staff turnover, and Chubby Cheeks was no exception. But, even then we found several caregivers that my daughter formed strong bonds with throughout all her development (infant, to toddler, to Pre-K), and Hivron has a special talent to weed out and find personnel that have the true core qualities of being an excellent caregiver. No place can ever be completely perfect or free from incidents, but our experiences with such things were of relatively minor issues, and could be resolved easily. There is no other place in Delaware that we would send our child to, we highly recommend it to any of our friends or anyone who asks.

This is a very pricey child care facility for the care they actually put out. I have had nothing but issues with this place since my two youngest boys started. This was our first experience with childcare at an actual facility and I was not pleased. They seem understaffed and negligent to communicating necessary information to parents. Or maybe it just my experience I’m not sure. My boys contracted a very nasty virus from here. If you want to drop your kids off and pick them up without an actual personal experience and pay out the wazoo then this is the place for you. I will say that there was one teacher who took the time to treat me like a parent and not a dollar sign.

I want to say a big thank you from the bottom of my heart to the entire fraternity of Chubby Cheeks Daycare who works tirelessly to ensure that children in our community are very well taken care of. I was really desperate in looking for a Daycare where I could feel comfortable with leaving my child due to a busy schedule of life and my instincts kept on telling me to call the Daycare. Well, I did and Ms. Hivron responded and enrolled my child the same day we went in for a classroom tour. The entire Chubby Cheeks family have been so great and communicates effectively. Thank you once again, my child and I feel happy to be part of the Chubby Cheeks family.

Chubby Cheeks is great! Hivron was very understanding and got my daughter enrolled over the span of just a few days, i was in a pinch and she helped me! Had a couple health problems during my daughter’s time there as well and she accommodated for her missing a few days. I would recommend this childcare center to anyone who is looking!! Their app also posts daily updates and photos of your child. Loved that.

Our daughter has been going to Chubby Cheeks for almost 2 years now. The owner, Hivron, is such a kind person. She is present every day, very involved, and cares greatly for the kids. Her team provides wonderful care to the children. Our daughter is mildly handicapped but the Chubby Cheeks staff have made accommodations allowing her to fit in easily with the other children. They also have an app for the parents where they post updates about your child throughout the day, including pictures. It is a safe and clean environment. We are so thankful to have found this daycare facility.
