My husband and I visited 5 churches before we decided to make Christ Chapel our home church. We have been attending services, classes and volunteering now for over 7 years and our three children love it. Through the years, our kids have enjoyed attending outdoor pow wows, vacation bible school, picnics, camps, kids choir, father-daughter dances and much more but more importantly than activities is that they have created lifelong friendships that will keep encouraging their spiritual growth for years to come. The families at Christ Chapel are caring, the leaders go out of their way to make sure you feel connected and the pastors share inspirational messages that help your spiritual growth. We appreciate and embrace the diversity. There is something for everyone, a real hub to connect with like-minded individuals from all walks of life.
This church has a beautiful building and a wonderfully diverse congregation. Walking up, I was encouraged to see so many people greeting one another warmly—it gave me hope that this might be a good place for our family. Once inside, however, our experience felt different. While the greeter was very warm and engaging with the family and child in front of us, our own welcome felt flat and impersonal, and my children weren’t spoken to. At the welcome table, we were given a hand in the air and asked to wait while the staff member continued a personal conversation. We stood for several minutes as people passed by without offering help. Eventually, another woman—who was very kind—was asked by that staff member to assist us with registering our kids, while she continued her conversation. In the children’s area, my son felt overwhelmed and lost at the idea of joining the chaos in a gym. He was told simply to “go on in,” and no one came over to welcome him or help him get settled. He grew teary at the thought of staying and decided to remain with us. As we walked toward dropping off our younger child, we were handed a single welcome bag for our children, which felt like an afterthought rather than genuine excitement to have them there. We ultimately did not stay, but walked out through the exit doors on the other side of the large room. We left feeling unseen and discouraged, which was difficult as a family truly seeking a church home. We know no church is perfect, and we do believe this congregation has so much potential to offer visiting families. But in our experience, the busyness of the morning seemed to take priority over noticing newcomers who were longing to belong.
I love my church and every pastor and leader that serves in it and I thank you for it, remember is the Lord who gives the reward. Pastor Bob and Wendy I pray the Lord guide you in this time and I know He will just as He has done it before. The Lord is with you. It’s unfair that a handful of people voted on such an important decision without considering the entire congregation; how about letting us “vote” on matters that will affect the entire church? I’m disappointed at the people that did this. Unfortunately the image of the church seem unstable where at any given moment a handful of people might “vote” you out.
Service was good it just we didn’t go over the Bible much. I want to dive into the word! The pastor didn’t give the most important message of all at the end of service and asked if they had any newcomers in the audience. if they wanted to be saved by accepting Jesus our lord and savior. Another reason it’s important to dive into the word is because some people show up to church after years as a last hope to see if God can reach their heart and whatever they’re going through and the service I went to was not satisfying at all, and if I was that person it just wouldn’t be good. It was also one hour of singing before the service started. Just wish they would dive deeper into the word!!!! God bless y’all
