What Parents Say
Most parents (6 of 8 reviews) report very positive experiences with engaged children, knowledgeable teachers, and a nurturing Montessori/Reggio-inspired environment. However, two recent 1-star reviews raise serious concerns about declining quality, staff turnover, billing practices, lack of transparency, and management integrity.
This is our first year with Montessori kids Universe at Metropark and we are extremely happy that we chose this school for our daughter. Every morning, she looks forward to going to school and being with her friends and teachers. From the moment the door is opened and she is greeted, all the way to dismissal she has these stories of amazing things that she does in the classroom everyday. The teachers really know the children inside out. Her social development has been remarkable as well - credit to the teachers and the nurturing environment they provide at the school. The parent community is extremely friendly and close knit as well. We are glad that our child is a part of this community and hopeful that some of the friendships formed is going to out last preschool! Thank you MKU Metropark for a wonderful experience!
Lovely school;my daughter attended MKU for more than one year and it was our pleasure to see her growing up so well. Everyday she was excited to go to school to see her friends and teachers. They have lot of activities to keep kids engaged and learn from real experience. The teachers are really good and admirable!
We started with this school last November and I have never felt more comfortable leaving my child in someone else's care than I do at Montessori kids Universe Metropark. I love that the school has both Montessori and Reggio-inspired curriculum, giving my 3 year old the best of both worlds. When I go pick up my child at school he doesnt want to go home, and that speaks highly of the care and love my child gets at this school.I love that while this is a Montessori school, they don't follow a traditional school calendar and offer care year round, and are open until 6:30 pm, which makes it easy for us since we travel to New York City for work. I would highly recommend taking a tour and meeting the staff there. They all love what they do and part of what makes the school so special!!
Recently I visited my cousin in Jersey and I was super amazed to see her daughter's behavior. She was impeccable at the restaurant and the way she eats at home now. A kid who would not sit while eating is now glued to chair and doesn't get up until everyone is done. That was amazing!!!! She even amazed me at the birthday party where host was serving cupcakes and she waited till everyone got one. Her mom told me that it is coming from school. And I would say she made a great choice of sending her to Montessori Kids Universe at Metro Park. She totally blew me when she talked about land reforms and Continents. She can count from 1-20 and reverse and she is not even 2! I visited the school to pick up my niece, all the faculty and staff are wonderful without exception. I cannot recommend this school highly enough!
With due regards to the so called Montessori style and fancy words like Reggio review, MKU was probably the worst of three daycares my kid attended; teachers were good for first few months when there were around 6 kids per class but starting this year, services reduced and attitude increased; I heard they responded to some parents’ basic requests by saying – ‘That’s not my job’, also couple of good assistant teachers already left. Daily reports would invariably be wrong or incomplete, kids with running noses wouldn’t be attended to thereby infecting others, and my child’s jacket wouldn’t be zipped at times even during cold windy days outside in play-place (which btw was left over from previous daycare). There is even scarcity of bags and used grocery bags are being utilized for storing bedcovers! The fact that camera service is also discontinued now speaks a lot about the confidence level of quality of care being provided.
