What Parents Say
These reviews appear to be for a luxury resort hotel (Grand Wailea), not a daycare center. The reviews describe guest experiences at a Waldorf Astoria Resort in Wailea, Hawaii, with consistently high ratings praising staff hospitality, amenities, and beach access.
We had an amazing time staying there. The Hilton gold member had us upgrade to a napua suite. It was sooo amazing it had provided breakfast and lite lunch bite and also cocktail hours. The food and drinks provided were amazing, the suite itself was great as well with sunset Terrance view and ocean directly looking at the chapel. The facility itself was amazing as well. Lots of pools and easy access to the ocean. We walked a little further toward four seasons side to do snorkeling and we were able to see sea turtles right by the beach and saw a lot of tropical fishes. Sunset was just so amazing, with the gold member 50 diner credit the food was not as expensive, but food was fine/ok on onsite restaurants. The shopping plaza next to it was easily walkable and had some restaurants. The cabana and shells by the pools were expensive for sure for 350 and 700. We opted not to do that just enjoyed the rest. Valet parking is 75 dollar per day but easy in and out. Overall, we had really great time. And Napua concierge were amazing, they even let us checked out but keep a badge to use a lounge to rest till our late flight.
You could have earned a 5 star!! The hotel was very nice along with the grounds. Food price seemed excessive even considering "Island pricing". However, what was the true turnoff was the extra excessive costs that are no clear on the website. For instance, the website states a limited number of folding chairs are available and umbrellas and lounge chairs can be booked at an additional cost. Well, it is a surprise to learn the cost is $150 for two such chairs and an umbrella. For a visit just over a week, the cost was over $1,000. Also, because a flight was in early evening, a late checkout was investigated. The front desk did indicate a $500 charge which was agreed to (due to a pregnant mother-to-be). $500 for a few extra hours in the room....a lower cost would be reasonable. Having been charged almost $1,000 a night for the room plus the daily resort fee, the special feeling of the resort was partially ruined. We splurged a bit staying at this resort but didn't expect the excessive extras. I would expect many other such hotels may have the same issues so be extra careful to consider all the costs.
We had an absolutely fantastic week at the Grand Wailea! I've stayed at a few Waldorf properties and this one felt a bit more...rustic? Like not as sleek and modern and polished, but this is Hawaii, and it fit the island vibes perfectly. The layout really leaned into the natural beauty all around--pretty much everything is open to the outdoors, with gorgeous views of the beach and mountains. Getting the ocean view room was completely worth it--waking up every morning seeing that beautiful view was the perfect way to start each day. And laying out on the balcony looking up at the bright stars was the perfect way to end each day! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and it was easy to get whatever we needed either in person, or through the chat in the app. It is annoying to not have any self-park option, but if you call down to the valet about 10 minutes ahead, you won't be waiting very long for your car. I do wish their was a way to tip through the app or with a QR code or something, because who carries that much cash in 2026? If you're grabbing your car a few times a day over the course of a week vacation, that adds up. We really loved the pools, the water slides, and the swim up bar! The beach was also lovely and very convenient to access. We checked in on a Monday, and had lovely experiences with these amenities all through the week. On the weekend, however, it was slightly less pleasant and welcoming--the vibe of the attendants switched up from being warm and accommodating to being a bit stern, constantly asking to check our wristbands (which we were clearly wearing), and being stingy with towel distribution (I was not allowed to grab towels for me and my partner, he had to go get his own). We still had a great time, though! The luau is an absolute must! It was one of the best experiences we had on Maui. The service here was top notch, the performers were incredible, and the food was delicious. We also really appreciated that we were leaning about the Hawaiian culture, and everything felt respectful, authentic, and celebratory. I was a little disappointed that we were never offered flower leis at any point in our stay! That would have been a really lovely way to start our time at the Grand Wailea, or maybe at the beginning of the luau. We did receive like a woven crown with shells (for me) and a necklace with wooden beads (for my partner) when we entered the luau, which was very nice, but I was hoping to get the traditional flower lei that you picture when you think of Hawaii at some point. We ended our week at the Kilolani Spa, and it was absolutely wonderful. All of the staff here was so warm and lovely, and our massages were perfect. We also loved the hydrotherapy space to rest and take a moment to reflect on our experiences before heading home.
I am amending my original review. After a slightly rocky start to the week, the customer service team at the Grand Wailea, Crystal and Eric specifically, were both great with their follow-up and helping improve our visit. There was a mixup on the activity schedule which they took accountability for. My 13 year old son was really looking forward to the game room but it was closed during most of our stay. However, the pool and water slides are great so he was able to find other things to do during the day. If you are planning to use the game room I recommend checking the days/hours ahead of your visit.
My wife and I stayed at the Grand Wailea during our honeymoon, and our experience was absolutely exceptional largely thanks to Zenith from the Nāpua section. We genuinely cannot credit Zenith enough. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, valued, and truly special. Her warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail made our honeymoon unforgettable. The Grand Wailea is a stunning resort with incredible facilities, but it is people like Zenith who truly elevate the experience. She made everything feel personal and effortless, and her care and hospitality stood out in every interaction. We will forever associate the Grand Wailea with incredible honeymoon memories, and Zenith is a huge reason why. She is an absolute credit to the resort and deserves every bit of recognition. We cannot wait to return and would recommend the Grand Wailea without hesitation.
