I’m writing this because I’m still disgusted and disturbed by what I witnessed one morning at this YMCA. I came in earlier than usual and apparently caught two naked middle-aged men completely off guard. The sauna light was off, it was silent, and both men were standing right next to each other — one positioned directly behind the other (away from the window to avoid being seen). When I turned on the light, both froze. The man standing behind the other had an obvious erection. They immediately looked shocked, separated, and sat down on opposite sides of the bench, leaving an empty space in the middle for me as if to pretend nothing had happened. Based on their positioning and behavior, it was clear to me that they had been engaging in something highly inappropriate — what looked very much like a sexual act, possibly sodomy, in a public sauna. I was disgusted and immediately left to report what I saw to the staff. The maintenance guy working that morning was one of the few who seemed to understand the seriousness of the situation — he was visibly angry too, especially considering how a younger or more vulnerable person could have walked in. What shocked me even more was how management handled it. The two men were merely given a warning. That’s it. No suspension, no banning, no accountability. Meanwhile, members like me had to continue using the same facilities as these people. Seeing them again made me sick and I had my membership cancelled. If I were a parent, I’d think twice before letting my kids anywhere near this YMCA. The daycare area is literally across the hall from where this happened. It’s disturbing to think that such vile behavior could take place here — and the leadership’s response was essentially indifference. To make matters worse, I later found one of the men on Facebook and was saddened to see he has a wife and family. If his wife ever knew how he was spending his mornings, she would be heartbroken and ashamed. This experience has stayed with me — the shock, the disgust, and the sheer frustration at how an organization that claims to promote family values could turn a blind eye to something so serious. Until this YMCA shows it’s willing to protect the integrity and safety of its members, I cannot recommend it to anyone.

if you are coming here to get a good workout in (with weights) this review is for you. the gym is upstairs, which can take a second to find. there are 3 different rooms with equipment, and it can seem like a maze at first. most of the equipment is in alright shape. some of the barbells and dumbells do have a brown “rust” color to them as it is dirt and grime over the years. the crowd that seems regular here are older folks, so do not slam weights (deadlift or bail a squat) without thinking you won’t get stared down. as a female as well, there have been some incidents where i have felt very uncomfortable around some of the people here, who think it is okay to say comments or stare. the parking lot is also extremely small.

I go 23 different centers for my workouts. Broadview, the side and the east side. my great grandchildren take advantage of child watch, and they love it as well. The friendships I have made will be long-lasting.

Has a good amount of machines, but they are extremely dirty. I doubt they wipe or clean them as they look the same every time. There is always chunks of dirt. I also got an infection on my foot, do NOT use the hot tub. Overall, for the price it’s fine. Staff is very friendly and the track is nice when it’s snowing out. It’s convenient.

The entire Staff was very accommodating when my Mother’s apartment complex shut the water off to the facility prior to our family trying to get ready for a funeral. They allowed us to use their facility. We are so grateful for their hospitality.
