What Parents Say
Reviews are predominantly positive, with members praising the Olympic-sized pool as the standout feature. Staff are consistently described as friendly, helpful, and dedicated. The facility is noted as older but well-maintained and clean with ongoing improvements.
I am a swimmer and can comment only my experience swimming as a guest. I visit Ys all over the country and this was the best pool I've ever been in as well as the first true Olympic sized pool. The water is impeccably clean and the lanes are wide. In long course format, they have 8 lanes that can be very comfortably split (not all may be open depending on the time). I'm an early morning swimmer and the pool had people in all lanes but room for splits. Nice temperature for active swimmers. The locker room upstairs was well maintained in general with ample dehumidification. They do supply body wash, shampoo and conditioner in the showers. Steam shower and sauna are available. It's not a huge locker room but it's also not the only one. There is a historic wood paneled lounge that is really lovely. Six visits as a guest before you start paying half price. The $10/day (half the normal day rate of $20 for an adult) would be well worth it to jump into such a great pool.
Love the huge pool! I have yet to wait for a lane to do my laps. The pool is always clean. The gym is very good as well. This Y has a lot of activities for young and old alike.
I had a very disappointing experience at the Greenwich YMCA. During my visit, I encountered repeated interruptions and a dismissive attitude from a staff member, Carlos, whose tone was harsh and embarrassing. When I requested to speak to a manager to address my concerns, there was no one available except the same individual who had been discriminatory toward me. From my understanding, this situation demonstrates a lack of support and oversight for members who raise legitimate concerns. I felt that the handling of my complaint was unprofessional, leaving me frustrated and disrespected. I hope the YMCA leadership takes these matters seriously to ensure all members are treated fairly and respectfully.
Wonderful staff and although the facility is old, they keep it nice and refreshed. Great weight room and trainers. I see different trainers working with people throughout the day and all seem very dedicated with their one-on-one. Overall the staff tries to instill an overall sense of community and belonging, and I believe they have succeeded.
My experience is limited to the pools but both well deserve 5 stars. I particularly love the Olympic pool. Water temp is always just right and it’s a special treat when the full length is open.
