Long time member and this Y is a great family gym with a lot to offer. However, they are spending a lot of money on updating, some good, some nt so good, hence 4 stars. The cost of moving the front entrance, maybe 15 feet is one. Handicap spaces have been moved and reduced. Maybe ADA compliant but the new location is challenging for someone who has true mobility issues to get to the front entrance. The women's locker room could be cleaned more than once a day. Clumps of hair in the showers is a turnoff. The plus of the gym, I feel the staff, instructors and trainers are passionate about what they do and knowledgeable. My daughter had swim lessons here 47 years ago as a toddler and I brought my grandkids here for swim lessons when they were toddlers. Great place for beginning swimmers. Oldest grandchild is now on high school swim team. Lots of pluses and some minuses.

Good evening, I am writing to share a concerning experience I had this evening at the Pleasant Hill YMCA around 7:30 PM. I came in to register my daughter for swim lessons, as I had previously been working with a YMCA instructor regarding enrollment. I attempted to register online but encountered technical issues, so I called the YMCA and was advised to come in and register in person. When I arrived, I received an important work call as I entered the facility. I verbally informed the front desk staff member that I was on a call and asked for a moment. Shortly after, she again instructed me to scan in. I indicated that I was on the phone using a hand gesture. While waiting, I noticed other members entering and stepped to the side to avoid blocking the entrance. At that point, the staff member—who identified herself as Tiffany—raised her voice and repeatedly told me that I needed to scan first. This was done loudly and in front of other members, causing several people to look at me. It felt as though she assumed I was attempting to enter without authorization or that I did not belong there. The interaction was embarrassing and left me feeling uncomfortable and mistrusted. Once I finished my call, I explained that I was there to register my daughter. However, due to how I was treated during this interaction, I have decided not to proceed with joining the Pleasant Hill YMCA and will be enrolling my daughter elsewhere. I believe members and prospective members should be treated with respect and understanding. Additionally, this location does not appear to have a designated waiting area for members or guests who are waiting to ask questions or receive assistance, which contributed to the confusion during this situation. We are very grateful to Esteban del Rio and the entire swim coach team! High quality instructions, clear communication, always welcoming and available to assist. Fantastic setting for little ones to learn to swim in an outdoor pool in a stress free environment. The program is also available year round!

Today close to 2 p.m., my uncle went to the front desk to cancel his membership. The woman working there, who was wearing glasses and a non-Caucasian, was very rude and impatient with him. She eventually told him that he had to email to cancel. As he was walking away, she kept mumbling and even made a “jeep” sound at him, which was extremely disrespectful. Honestly, we’re glad he won’t be coming back to a place where customers are treated like that.

Great gym. Seniors can get cranky. Leadership and employees are great. Facility is clean and they always seem to be improving the facilities, adding classes and coming up with new things.
