What Parents Say
Y KIDZ Southwest Valley YMCA in Goodyear is highly praised as a clean, safe, family-oriented facility with a dedicated and friendly staff. Parents appreciate the comprehensive early childhood learning program, diverse youth activities, fitness classes, and swimming lessons available for all ages. The location offers convenient access to amenities and maintains a welcoming, nurturing atmosphere.
The location of this facility is remarkably convenient, nestled near the Wigwam golf course within a safe and bustling neighborhood. It offers easy access to stores and libraries, making it even more attractive. A notable aspect is the engagement of many members who bring their children to partake in the early child learning program and the drop-in Child Watch service while they engage in their fitness routines. Here are several noteworthy aspects of this location: Dedicated and Supportive Staff: The commitment and helpfulness of the entire staff, from Fred and Nick to the entire team, have been consistently outstanding. Whether at the front desk or in the kids' room, the staff members exude warmth and a sincere welcome for both members and families. Fantastic Group Fitness Classes: The variety of group fitness classes available here is impressive. The classes are designed to accommodate diverse age groups, from 5-year-old kids to those who are 99 years old(or older). Instructors Mary and Robin infuse energy and motivation, ensuring each session is enjoyable and effective. Youth Development Activities: Beyond fitness, a wide array of youth development activities, including dance crews and summer camps, enrich the offerings. The year-round availability of swimming classes and the open pool further enhance the options. Early Child Learning Program: The management of the early child learning program is nothing short of exceptional. The program's organization and structure are commendable, reflecting the effort invested in creating a nurturing environment. Thoughtful Amenities: The provision of shades in both the parking lot and pool areas is a thoughtful touch. This feature offers crucial sun protection, especially during the scorching Arizona summers. However, it's worth acknowledging that this location can become quite bustling, particularly during the peak times of summer camps. This might lead to occasional noise and finding oneself amidst groups of energetic children. Additionally, the showering facility appears slightly outdated and could benefit from an upgrade.
I love this place to workout! The Staff are friendly and helpful. The facility trainers are the best! The pool and equipment are clean, well maintained and easily accessible. The cost is reasonable. The atmosphere is friendly, nurturing and nonjudgmental! Great place! Highly recommend!
This location is completely unprofessional and disorganized. We signed my infant up for swim lessons that were to start on the 1st at 9am. We get there to be told lessons were pushed a week back because of a swim meet. No one informed us. I login to the ymca portal and classes updated to the 8th. We then show up on the 8th and there were no instructors. We were told the lessons were at 9:40. I logged in and they said 9am. After waiting over 30min the swim director spoke with us and stated lessons were supposed to start on the 1st at 9am. And our lesson on the 8th should have been at 9am. But where was the supposed instructor? We asked for a refund. The swim director then tried to tell us we shouldn’t do swim lessons in the fall and needed to do them in the summer when it’s hotter weather. Our son has been exposed to water since he was 4 months old. He was comfortable with the water temps. It sounded like just an excuse to make us less upset. This was a complete waste of time as we live 30min away. I would not recommend using this ymca for your child’s lessons.
0 stars if I could. I will not be coming back for their daycare services. They did not notify me of my daughter’s arm fracture. Her arm was red/ swollen and was crying throughout the day. They gave her a 2nd ice pack since the previous one wasn’t cold. That tells you it was too long to still not notify me. Complete negligence. I immediately took her to hospital to confirm a fracture. I did notify them of course so I know they will know the exact situation. We are going into the 3rd week of this and I am still waiting for a response of this “result”. I mean she fractured her arm and they completely dismissed a crying child IN PAIN. AGAIN NO PARENT NOTIFIED. SHE WAS CRYING IN PAIN WITH NO PARENT MADE AWARE!!! THEY DIDNT SEEK MORE CARE other than ice packs . NEGLIGENCE NEGLICENCE NEGLIGENCE. Now put yourself in my shoes, how would you feel if this was your daughter/ granddaughter who was not given immediate care because the staff dismissed her clear signs of injury!? This is exactly one of our worries as a mom when choosing a daycare. So beware.
The Southwest valley YMCA in Goodyear is a great place to work out. Whether you're using the gym or swimming and taking classes in the pool, it feels more personal than your average gym. It's never overcrowded and it's a good place to meet people that are actually interested in... Working out. I have recommended this location to many people and have been going here for years. I'm currently working with a personal trainer, Brett, and he is amazing. If you want to workout and not feel like a piece of meat, come to the YMCA!
