HORRIBLE experience today at this YMCA. I feel Rosa, the woman at the front check-in, made it her mission and got some kind of enjoyment out of ruining my day. From the moment I walked in, nothing but attitude and drama. There was a block on my account, I try explaining yes I was here a few days ago and I spoke with member services right behind you and they said they were submitting a ticket to have it removed. She said well I can’t let you in. (There’s a bit of back and forth) I walk to member services and she literally follows me like I’m stealing from a store or something. I sit down and begin talking to Celestine - Rosa repeatedly interjects and I ask her “why are you bringing this energy over here? I’m dealing with Celestine now please go back over there”. She eventually returns to the front check in once prompted by Celestine. Celestine takes a look at my account and it shows as active on her in. Eventually the wellness director (a very nice lady) comes over, calls corporate and gets it resolved. The wellness director tells me I’m good to go. I go back to the front desk and Rosa (again with an attitude) tells me I need to take a picture I tell her I look crazy and can’t today. She says she can’t let me in. (Mind you I’ve had a membership for YEARS and have never been treated like this or had an issue). The Wellness Director tells me that is their policy but to just go enjoy my workout for today. I tell her no thank you and that I’m going to leave as I feel it was Rosa’s personal goal to ruin my day regardless.
I love the Wade Walker YMCA in Stone Mountain. It is staffed by friendly people, is well maintained and has a generous parking lot. The swimming pool is large and has 4 lap lanes with 2-3 always available for lap swimming. There are sections for families and kids and there is even an outdoor pool with slides, etc. but this is only available during the late spring and summer. The facility offers water aerobics and has a sauna and a whirlpool and the pool area is always staffed with young, friendly lifeguards who are always watching over the activities. The only reason I gave this facility 4 instead of 5 stars is because there are only a few yoga classes offered and the rooms where the yoga classes are held are often inadequate for the activity.
Today my grandsons and I came to enjoy this YMCA, coming from the eastlake YMCA. The front staff is very nice and inviting. I told them that it is our first time here, they asked me if I wanted a tour, I got it immediately. Nice and active inside. My day off work, I am sitting in the quiet common area, enjoying organizing my backpack from such a busy week at work. Thank you staff, keep up the good work.
The indoor pool was very well kept up in cleanliness and the staff is nice. The front desk greeted us as we entered and welcomed us as first time visitors. We will most definitely return
I love the Y. Pool, whirlpool, gym and basketball court. Youth sign up, and they are great at throwing events for them. Very nice staff. Not overcrowded. Only thing I don't like is you can't bring a guest with you.
