I have been sitting on this review for months and I still don’t know exactly how to put down how I feel in words. My child attended the preschool and his teachers were great. The director is extremely unprofessional and problematic to the school's success. An issue occurred and I brought it to the director's attention and I was brushed off and felt as if I was not heard, nor respected. After that, I had to deal with passive aggressive behavior (she pretended like she didn't see me, walked away when she saw me coming) which made me feel very unwelcome and I dreaded taking my child to daycare everyday. The incident that caused me to pull my child out of the daycare that very day was an egregious mistake that, AGAIN, was brought to the preschool's attention and was brushed off. The gymnasium in the preschool was rented out to an outside company to hold a consignment sale. The infant and preschool rooms are located directly off of the gymnasium. My concerns were: the doors were wide open to the parking lot, located directly on Lexington Road, people were EVERYWHERE in the gymnasium setting up the sale and bringing in donations, the room where my son was located did not have a locked door, and no preschool staff was monitoring the gym activity. I called the pastor instead of the director because I was not comfortable speaking to her due to our past interactions. My concerns were met with a flippant attitude of "I assure you, the kids will be fine" and "we've done this many times in the past and the kids have always been fine". I did not feel safety precautions were appropriate so I went back, walked in through the open doors without checking in or being seen and went to my son's room and opened the door. I then brought it to the director's attention that I was able to sneak in and the safety of the children was at risk. We proceeded to disagree and have an argument about it. It ended with her scathingly telling me to "go get your son" so I did and we left. Bright from the Start was then contacted and the preschool was cited for renting part of the preschool as indeed being a state violation. I had high hopes for TUMC preschool but the experience was horrible. I hope if you choose them as a childcare provider, stay vigilant because they are not taking safety precautions as they should be or communicating with parents properly. The pictures provided show the proximity of the sale (and strangers) to the classroom. You can see the chairs along the wall next to the classroom and the snowman door is for the infant room.
I was a nervous wreck as my toddler embarked on his first days of school. Not only did he love it and was well cared for - but all of his teachers were extremely responsive with loving and positive messages about how he was doing in class. It eased my nerves and let me know we chose the right school for our child.
We were at Tuckston United Methodist for supporting our grandson's high school graduation. The service was nice and they provided a steak dinner for the grads and their families. The pastor of very nice and we always enjoy visiting when we go to visit our daughter and family. The church has a preschool that started the grandson's educational journey.
The preschool program is top notch! The teachers as well as Connie the director are always so helpful.
I pulled my child out of their preschool as soon as I found out they were having a consignment sale in the gym. The gym is located near my infant's room and his crib was within feet of the classroom door. If you need any additional information, look at their visitations on the Georgia Bright from the Start. My original review was flagged/taken down for some reason. Hopefully another parent will see this and keep this in mind when they are deciding where to enroll their child.
