What Parents Say
Trinity UMC's daycare facility receives overwhelmingly positive reviews praising welcoming staff, good outdoor facilities, and quality care. However, two recent reviews from non-member families report feeling unwelcome and describe negative interactions with staff, including concerns about cultural sensitivity and lack of responsiveness from church leadership.
On a regular Sunday, I went to Trinity UMC in McLean, expecting to find a typical Methodist service, but this was extraordinary. The church members and staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, even to my son with special needs. Within minutes, we felt like we belonged. The music was extraordinary, especially the organ and voice. Most surprising was the sermon, given by the pastor, Dave Rochford. The message was compelling, stylish, informative and most importantly, right on point. It felt like the message was meant for me and I was absorbed by it - in a broader context it was obvious that it was touching to all. This is the most exciting church in Northern Virginia.
This church is western/white culture centric. It ignores other culture's holidays. They should be more knowledgeable and more sensitive.
As a minority who was not a member of the church, I strongly urge AGAINST bringing your children. You'll see across the board 5 stars from their congregation. We were not members, were not welcomed, and reached out numerous times and were ignored. Don't assume a church is filled with good people. Very negative experience with the preschool, where Ms Emily Yosmanovich made us feel unwelcome to the point of leaving. Watched an excellent teacher harassed. No response from the Church. Shocking and disappointing experience in Fairfax County.
This is a historic Methodist church with modern new facilities, an engaged, friendly congregation and a strong commitment to the community and missions. Lots of ways to get involved. It's always inspiring and educational to hear sermons from Senior Pastor Jim Sprouse. New child care facilities with great staff. The church members really show a welcoming attitude and spirit to everyone, so visitors should give it a try.
A welcoming and service-oriented community, pastors who continually inspire and bolster your faith, great children’s programs, a historic church and beautiful newer facilities designed for fellowship.
