Amazing team. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing feats of knowledge to tap into each and every day. Couldn’t ask for a better sense of community to jump on into as well and work to mold a better me. Everyone here has a goal- greatness, and it is more than achievable through this facility with the guidance of caring and supportive coaches and teammates, but also can’t forget sheer hard work. Team Link is as legit as it gets💯

I took my eight-year-old autistic son here over the summer because I really wanted him to be a part of some thing and I thought karate would be great for him. I talked to the grandmaster before I went there in great detail. Let him know about my son and how our visit would most likely go. When we got there, there was a class in session and my son was fascinated and really wanted to join in. But that was definitely a hard no because the grandmaster didn’t even acknowledge or entertain the fact that he wanted to go down and join in with the kids. Not sure how else I would’ve known if my son who’s nonverbal would have enjoyed doing karate, but instead he took us upstairs to do a so-called private lesson where my son was pretty scared because we were upstairs in an empty room when all the kids were downstairs together in a group, just wanted to. When we got upstairs, we were asked to take our shoes off. OK that’s fine. My son didn’t understand why, and he was very hesitant too as this was a new space a new man who was not very welcoming to us and we could just feel his vibe that he really wasn’t interested in helping us at all . Basically had to drag my kid out of there while feeling judged by every parent who was sitting in there, and also the grandmaster seen that my son was starting to meltdown because he just wanted to join in with the kids and instead of offering for him to just go down there for a minute and just see, my meltdown and let me just drag him out of there . I felt so judged the look that we were given and stared at the entire time by all the parents in there was utterly disappointing. If you have a child on the spectrum is not so-called high functioning. I surely would not recommend this place left feeling defeated. Which is very sad because we were both so excited the whole ride there.

We have been bringing the kids here for over a year and have had a great experience with the youth karate program. Ed teaches the kids self defense and how to get away from strangers. We tried a class at another place before starting here and this program is much better. Ed brings his best effort to every class and you can feel his passion for the arts. His programs are popular though so I’m probably shooting myself in the foot with this review. 😁

What can I say about Tokyo Joes that doesn’t already speak for itself. I originally found Tokyo Joes about 2002 with my oldest 2 kids when the dojo was in its early days, back then this place had something special, great teaching by Ed Carr and his side kick Bob who truly enjoyed their profession. My kids loved this place and looked forward to it daily, unfortunatly life took its turns and we ended up moving to another state never being able to duplicate the experience of Tokyo Joes. Fast forward 20 years and my youngest found a passion for Karate and jiu jitzu (sp) and spent the last 2 years studying with a local dojo however unfortunatly several months ago my daughters passion outgrew what her dojo could offer. In comes a a day driving through Hooksett and passing Tokyo Joes, we for the hell of it allowed her to take some trial classes and BAM it was a fit finally a place who could challenge her and reignite her passion in both Tokyo Joes and team Link and of course who is the face behind the passion Ed Carr who has not changed his passion for teaching kids in 22 years. We now drive 40 minutes 4-5 times a week specifically for this training. Thank you Mr.Carr for your professional establishment that can only be driven by your love for teaching. I look forward to watching my daughter reach black belt in your system.
