What Parents Say
The Sunshine House in Gahanna receives mixed reviews. While several parents praise attentive teachers, clean facilities, and inclusive management, others report serious concerns including staff conduct issues, maintenance problems, facility closures, and corporate billing practices.
My son's teachers are attentive and always friendly. The infant room is clean (or as clean as can be expected with four infants). It is awesome that all formula (Gerber Good Start), diapers, and wipes are included in the price. I find the management team easy to work with and very accommodating. Overall, it has been a great experience for me and my son.
All three of my children attend Sunshine House and I love this facility. All of the teachers are so loving and I know my kids are in good hands when I am at work. Andrea and Mary Lou in the infant room have taken good care of my babies and the directors are AMAZING. Everybody is easy to talk to and my kids love them all. If youre looking for good childcare The Sunshine House is where you need to be.Thanks for being there for me and my family!!
I have sent both of my children to this daycare. My son is 9 my daughter is 3. We have been at this daycare for around 5 years. It's been a roller coaster of events. We have stuck through alot with The Sunshine house. From when it was covid and it was shut down. To random days were it was closed due to staff shortage and closing early due to no air conditioning. We stuck though the years of no school drop offs because the license plates were expired and the main office didn't want to bring the busses to there main location to renew the registration sticker. To the saftey of the staff and children weren't a priority to headquaters just the price of a door. Recently the side door became a problem and the headquarters of the sunshine house did not want to fix it but the wonderful director made them fix it. I think it's ridiculous that kids had to give fun activities up for that the door could be fixed. The funniest part of our 5 years at the sunshine house is that on October 23 a lady from head quarters came in and told everyone that they weren't renewing their lease and they have until November 22 and then they are closing the center down. All the other sunshine houses' knew but the one in gahanna. It's truly sad how headquaters treats their workers. There has been leaking in the roof for years there is black mold all in the ceiling. Now that they are not renewing the lease all these problems that the center are now miraculously getting fixed. But not when it could benifit their staff and the children who's parents pay for them to go there. I thought after covid thing would of gotten better but they never did. They got new toys new learning materials and they were going to get field trips. We signed all the permission slips there were probably around 12 and my son never got to go on a single field trip over the summer. The busses never worked they were always at Firestone. If I knew what my five years would of been like here I would still do it again. And it's only because of a few teachers my children had.
A very good friend of mine had her children in this daycare, a teacher was overheard calling one of her children a “stupid brat”. Keep in mind this child is only four. This same teacher hit her child and when she reported this all that was done is she has to take some class. Does that sound right? This teacher then made this baby throw away her cat mask instead of putting it away, calling it a distraction. The website says that they provide strong educational and social foundations, yet they have done nothing of the sort. The older child was missing assignments in class because when the little ones napped she was forced to sit on a cot for those hours. I feel like if they continue to let this happen the next child will have a harder time at this place. This teacher that can’t keep her hands to herself was already on her final write up!!
Will never recommend anyone to attend here now Megan and jona are great directors but when it comes to payments corporate directors are money hungry ANIMALS I was charged for something that was not my fault and it could of been prevented if it was communicated to me when my swipe was missed they have kicked my children out of the daycare because of their lack of communication and the regional director GENESIS STEFFENS sent me a rude email stating my kids could no longer attend I will never and I mean never recommend anyone to your daycare. Now I'm stuck looking for new care for my children because they are money hungry dumb asses oh and to top it off they charge a 30 dollar late fee as well which is horrible.
