My son went to Shiny Penny for 2.5 years, from infancy to age 3. We missed red flags in the beginning that we didn’t really notice until the last 6-8 months: high staff turnover and lack of understanding of childhood development/normal developmental behaviors. Any time my son presented with developmentally-appropriate (although unwanted) behaviors, we were threatened with expulsion. At each turn we made adjustments at home and put in the time and effort to work with him to learn and correct these behaviors; Shiny Penny did not. Instead of providing a consistent and nurturing space in the older toddler rooms, my son constantly had changes in the adults working with him (3 staffing changes in 6 months), and they were not all proficient in early childhood development. When we were blindsided with an expulsion notice (through a letter, not even a phone call or face-to-face encounter), the owner refused to meet with us, citing understaffing as the excuse. Due to these red flags I absolutely do not recommend Shiny Penny to care for other parents’ children.
If you want top quality child care, The Shiny Penny is the place to go!! Truly amazing staff very compassionate and caring. My daughter attended this child care facility for many years. She loved going to daycare here and almost always cried when time to go home. Penny, Kristin and Amber are an amazing team and hands down have the BEST staff to care for children. Thank you Shiny Penny for the great care given to my child.
The Shiny Penny is an amazing daycare. The staff are always very helpful, cheerful, supportive and so much more! My daughter attended this daycare and I couldn’t have asked for better care! They made the transition to daycare seamless, and you can trust that your child will be well loved and cared for at The Shiny Penny!
One of the hardest parts of being a parent is finding the perfect care for your child. I was terrified to leave my four month old at The Shiny Penny (or anywhere really). Those fears quickly vanished when I placed her in Jessica's capable arms. Now, a year and a half later, my toddler looks forward to going to daycare every day. She is loved on and cared for by every adult in that building - from the management/administrative staff to the teachers in the classrooms. I'm impressed with the curriculum and amazed at the new things she learns every day. I 100% recommend The Shiny Penny without hesitation.
