What Parents Say
Tender Times Preschool receives mixed reviews with most parents praising the staff, facilities, and care quality. However, two negative reviews raise serious concerns about staff conduct toward children and unprofessional business practices. The center is family-owned and part of the First Things First program with qualified teachers.
I absolutely would not recommend this place to care for a animal let alone a child. Today was my son's 2nd day attending this place and it's also his last. My wife dropped my son off early in the morning cause she was unaware that my morning was open and he could have just stayed with me. He wasn't even there an hour. Well I get there and I'm in the main entrance where you sign the kids in and out and i can hear my son and I can tell he's very upset. Then I hear a lady doing nothing but teasing my son and belittling him in front of all the other kids. Now where I'm at no one there can see me, they don't even know I'm in the building. My son was crying that he wanted them to call me and he wanted to leave and go home. She told him no and that he was acting stupid and he was there for the day and he needed to deal with it. This is how this lady was talking to a 3 year old. When I came into the room my son saw me and ran and jumped into my arms, and when this lady saw me walk in her eyes got as bug as half dollars and when she tried talking to me all she could do was stutter cause she knew I heard what she was saying to my son. Now I have never met this lady in my life before and she didn't even ask for my identification or anything like that. After I got out of there I called my wife and told her what happened and my wife called to speak to the lady about it. Of course she flat out lied to my wife and told her nothing happened. As far as I know this lady is just a supervisor there, you can't miss her, she's heavy set, nasty teeth, and had dark hair. After talking to other parents at the place we were told similar stories about how bad this lady treats the kids. Bottom line this place is a joke, not safe at all for the kids and they treat the kids there very badly.
I am a teacher here at Tender times preschool and I am appalled by the current aligation below by Allen Gowen. Not only is his statement extremely false but how discriminating can a person be obviously very angry and disrespectful. I have worked here for 6 going on 7 years we are on first things first program and are qualified teachers. We here are a family, we treat these children as our own and help build healthy relationships with our students and parents. This day however was not his first day but his second Day alone away from his older sister it was difficult for this child as is most childrens first day they cry have separation anxiety scream and just want to be home. Ms. Tina our owner and director the (“heavy set, nasty teeth”) was with him and was soothing him letting him know “unfortunately mom and dad went to work and he wouldnt stay here to try and take some breaths to calm down.” she as well mentioned he’d as well get to go home just like the rest of the children in the center! The child repeatedly asked to be taken home and Ms. Tina again reassured the student she could not do so. Eventually stepping away to give the child some space because he asked to be left alone but acknowledge him by letting him know she’d check on him in a few. As for our center we do have an open area in the front where you sign your children in and out; parents are freely allowed to come in and out of our center to feel more comfortable. another note Allen was not Asked for I.D because The child ran up to the parent instantly and identified him as daddy the mother also let us know that she HAD to bring her son in unfortunately because the father was late meeting to get the child but he would be picked up shortly. Our teachers read through the children’s blue card forms to help identify incoming caregivers and than are given back to the director for storage to I.D when an unfamiliar face walks through we I.D on spot before allowing the grown up to leave with the child from our center. This statement below makes me extremely upset ! We would never be little a child or make a child purposely uncomfortable as stated !
This is a family owned business and the teachers are great the kids have plenty to do and the playground is awesome. You can judge a school by the playground and the equipment/toys in the school and this school does not skimp on any of those items for the kids when most schools will be cheap best of all the children are well cared for.
When I stumbled across tender time daycare. I called through out the day there was either no answer or I was place on hold for too long. When I finally got through I spoken with the owner Tina who was in a rush. Tina took down my phone number and said she will call when my child can start. two weeks pass of me trying to reach out to Tina and nothing I left unturned voicemails and message. Finally the second time we spoke she was just flat out ruined and told me her business has picked up well and she don't need my child after all. As a mom I'm very busy and has a set schedule Tina the owner of this TenderTime Daycare was not only unprofessional but wasted my value time.
I loved it so much when I went there, miss tender time. ~ Reyna James = old student who went there.
