Beautiful place. I have been to this church a couple of time with MJ/Grumpy and Cheryl as they are family. But on my last visit it was for MJ/Grumpy's Celbration of Life. Service was awesome MJ was smiling down on all his family and Friends. He will surely be missed. We laughed and cried. The Pastors did a wonderful job. RIP Grumpy 😘
This is a large church with a small church feeling. The dress code is not strict, and a lot of families seem to live out in more rural areas around New Tampa. They have dedicated programs for the disabled, and they are very welcoming. Thank You!
What a great church St. James UMC of Tampa is! It is home for anyone who would like to join the community. They have a FABULOUS youth program right through High School. They also have adaptive worship for Special Needs individuals of all ages as well as a respite program. The pastor is down to earth and every sermon I have heard him preach is relative to life today. Try it out if you need a new church home!
I attended this church regularly for a couple of years. In 2008, my mother passed away and the pastors kept in regular contact with my father. Eight months after the loss of my mom, I gave birth to twins who both passed away within three days of being born. The senior minister came by my house and visited me once. The associate pastor performed the funeral, but only after I was asked to change the time so it didn't conflict with the church picnic. The associate pastor left the funeral quickly to ensure that he got to attend to the event. For months following that, I received no calls and both the pastor and associate pastor would pass me in the hallway and wouldn't even ask me how I was. I wrote a letter to the pastor regarding my disappointment with the lack of caring. He never responded to me, but gave the letter to the associate pastor who asked to meet with my husband and me. He sat at our kitchen table and told us if we weren't happy with the church, maybe we should find another one. We did!
St James is a great church and has something for everyone. The leadership of the church is well rounded and have a strong strategic plan for the future. The music's over the top and Pastor Tony is on point with all he does. He always put, God Holy, Spirit , and Jesus Christ first. Bible based Philosophy Having issues getting on the 11:00 am service . At 11;00am it shows the 9:30 only , If you click on our 11:00am it takes you to Youtube's other churches at 11:00. This is not good or user friendly
