Beautiful grounds, people are welcoming. Go there!
I really enjoy the worship opportunities at St. Aidan's. There are three services on Sunday all providing a different experience. Service at 8:30AM is fun and includes young families with kids. The 10:30AM service is traditional Eucharist. The 5:30PM Celtic service is particularly appealing as it has beautiful music and it's quiet and reflective.
When we moved to the Fort Hunt area, we started looking for a local church. Our first stop was St. Aidan's because of its child-friendly 8:30 service. We never looked further. The church is very welcoming, in a come-as-you-are way, and the clergy are very thoughtful, learned, and honest spiritually. There are many ways to engage with the church and grow, especially now with the Center for Spiritual Deepening. We've been involved with too many to list, including: helping with Oktoberfest and the Christmas tree sale, baking communion, attending the Shrinemont retreat weekend, walking the labyrinths, tending a garden plot, delivering meals, volunteering at a homeless shelter, joining a spiritual book group, and attending the Day School.
Friendly neighborhood Church with three separate services each Sunday. The 8:30 am service has a relaxed focus to help children feel welcome & participate in the service and eucharist. Christian Education for all follows the first service. The 10:30 service includes the eucharist and a full choir. The contemplative Celtic service is at 5:30 pm, set with beautiful flute and guitar music, candles and a poetic eucharist. Three different services, three different flavors bind together this warm, inclusive congregation.
October fest is a popular neighborhood affair each year. Good German food a German Band and good friends and neighbors.
