Red Rocks Comm College Lakewood

I've never been a student or staffer at RRCC, but I'm an art lover and I've been visiting the campus for many years to take in the Art Department's periodic exhibitions. These were originally presented on the basement walls surrounding the Department's classrooms and offices, but more recently a formal art gallery has been created in the spaces surrounding the Community Room. This is immediately to your right as you go in the main entrance to the College. The new gallery is quite nice. There's a long, rectangular space and also a rotunda-like area immediately outside the Community Room. Be sure you go through the double doors at the rear of the front gallery to get into the second space. The gallery is open during all campus hours. Occasionally the rear doors are locked, but if you call Campus Security, they will be happy to let you in. The gallery presents student work, but also shows featuring the Lakewood community interspersed with material of regional and sometimes greater significance. It's a bit of a drive for me, but the campus is pretty and a visit to the gallery makes for a relaxing afternoon.

Red Rocks community college offers poor communication. I struggled with adding and dropping classes to the point where I could not get anyone to help me with adding or dropping classes. Therefore, I dropped my classes. I then was sent to collections with no communication from the school that money was even owed. Then when filing my taxes when my tax returns came back, the returns were returned to Red Rocks community college. I then reached out to the school to let them know that this should’ve not happened because I did not take any classes at the school. Because of the lack of help I received from the school, they were able to take my money. I am able to put in a appeal to see if they will grant me to takeoff what I owe them. But I will not be receiving the money that they took in the first place back. I would advise anyone who intends to go to Red Rocks community college to avoid going here for the poor lack of communication and the money that they will take from you because of the lack of communication. There are much better schools within the community that will help communicate and help you to understand and get the education that you Deserve.

While attending this school I was going through some very difficult times and some very challenging transitions. I forget who my sociology teacher was but her name began with an M I want to say her name is Mary if you ever have the opportunity to take her class I strongly encouraged taking her class as she's the one that has completely changed the way I perceive the world and others around me and even just the way that I think and process and function as an adult today. Miss Gina in the first generation department for student support I and forever thankful for you and I forget the other person's name you work with that's unbelievably full of spunk but I am happy to report I am almost graduated with my degree and I really truly hope our paths cross professionally someday! And thank you to Caitlin in the student life department for being my boss when I was a working student and all your patients while I was in a not healthy position in my life you are very patient and very understanding and I really hope that you show other students the same support even if it's just letting them walk away in silence because it is for their safety I fully fully and thankful to have had the support of staff from everyone at this community college I cannot think of a better community college to send my daughter when she is of age to start higher education! 💖

The class and the individuals I was with was amazing. The teacher was fantastic. Although the reason for the two stars is I was in the class for EMT. The school fired my teacher a month before I graduated, plus dozens of others for reasons they seemed to be hiding. Additionally I had a paramedic teacher tell me I would never make it into the fire service if I wasn’t a paramedic, he was very disrespectful to what I wanted to do. To make it better I have been a fire fighter for years now with only my EMT. They just want the pay check, they don’t truly care for you.

Professors are usually incredible but the way the records office treats students is absolutely unacceptable. It took a full year for them to begin processing my transcripts (despite submitting them in person WITH a member of records) and the people working in the records office were unimaginably rude. I love the classes but would think twice about ever recommending the school for that reason.
