What Parents Say
Port Orange YMCA Latch Key receives mixed reviews averaging 3.6/5 stars. Parents praise recent facility upgrades, friendly staff, and amenities like the pool and fitness classes, but express concerns about maintenance issues, limited weekend hours, and safety supervision of after-school children.
Dirty, moldy showers, locker room...steam room reeks of musty snell. There's a bucket under the swimsuit spinner that is always full and overflowing even when it's not working. Go figure! Seriously, is there any cleaning or maintenance crew? The outdoor pool is wonderful but doesn't feel heated. Also the after school kids are running all over in the pool area, to and from the playground, seemingly unsupervised, a huge safety concern! Closed on Sunday and only open until 2pm on Saturday is a huge problem... and please don't upcharge me on a 24 hour sale when it doesn't include pool, the only reason I pay. I will cancel membership if changes aren't made. Sad because it wouldn't take much to make this YMCA 💫💫💫💫
I think there have been significant upgrades since some of the earlier reviews. Great equipment, in good shape or new. A courteous and helpful staff. A nice place to workout .
FILTHY!!! The exercise equipment is rusty, dirty and moldy. The men's bathroom is obscene in it's condition, the water fountain area is also a disgrace - both having a high amount of mold present. The physical interior walls have been left to disrepair with holes and broken plaster going unrepaired. The gym is basically unhealthy with the high amount of mold, and dirt being present on the equipment. There are numerous choices for gyms - this should be your last consideration.
Overall, it’s a nice facility, especially for families. Hours are very limited, especially on weekends. I usually stick to the cardio equipment, but I’m disappointed that there’s only one rowing machine—and it’s not functional. The control panel is so faded that the instructions and programs are unreadable. Rowing is one of the best full-body, low-impact workouts, and right now, it’s essentially unavailable. Also, the group biking classes are often unmanned. I'm told it is self guided and virtually coached, but the room is always dark and roped off. Not sure why it's on the class schedule, if there is no class to attend.
Great sauna, work out area, showers. Staff helpful and friendly
