This has been my church for a few years now and I love worshipping there! Pastor Tom Van Duzer was the Pastor when I first started going there, and he was wonderful with a terrific sense of humor. But then he retired, so Pastor Mark Wood accepted the call, and he is great!! He presents the Lord's word in a way that I can relate to and understand... Plus he has a great sense of humor too!!!
Our Savior Church, KCKS has as the focal point in the sanctuary a floor to ceiling metaphoric stained glass window that I first laid eyes on when the church opened in the mid-60's. I am now 68 and still sense The Holy Spirit's presence when I enter the sanctuary and see The Lamb of God lying atop the Book of Life and its (10 ?) seals, described in Revelations. Apostles Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and many other new testament symbols comprise the gorgeous windows. I have been fortunate to see windows in the US, Germany, Wales and England. All are wonderful; none surpass the empress of the one in Kansas, City, KS. When the church opened, the Organ was a Baldwin. Any organ would sound wonderful in the live acoustic of this worship space. The time came when an Austin of considerable musical colors and tones was crafted and installed which only added greatly to the worship experience therein. In more recent years, more ranks have been added to the instrument and its effectiveness increased considerably. I recommend this church and all its asthetic attributes to every tour of churches and to friends and others who come to KC for a visit of worship spaces. Bravo!
I was baptized here in this church in 1979. I have been going to this church a long time. Beautiful church. U should attend.
