Open Doors Preschool

I transferred my child to Open Doors Preschool through ELC because I believed a preschool environment would provide learning and structure. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. My first concern began when my two older sons attended for the summer. They were only enrolled for about two weeks. Their teacher was visibly overwhelmed and would cry in front of the children. I personally witnessed the crying after she walked in from having sat in her car for a while. She'd also tell the children that her blood pressure was high and ask if they would behave this way with their parents. If someone is struggling that much in a childcare setting, it should be addressed, because children should not be exposed to that type of stress. I also want to be clear that I receive ELC assistance, which is meant to help families afford childcare. While enrolled here, I was told my child would be charged an extra $10 per week because he was not fully potty trained. I was also raised in price three times in about four to five months. I started at around $38 per week, then it increased to about $55, and eventually to around $90. In all my years using ELC, this has never happened to me before. When I contacted DCF about being charged an additional $40 per month for potty training, the representative told me she had never heard of such a fee before and said that while even she took offense to it as a parent, the center is technically allowed to make their own rules. Another major issue was communication. When concerns came up, I wanted to speak directly with the principal, Ms. Rachel. Instead of meeting with parents, she would send two receptionists to relay messages. Important matters should be handled face-to-face by leadership, not passed through front desk staff. It almost feels as if she's afraid to speak with parents. I also noticed there is an entire Facebook thread where other parents have raised the same concerns about unexpected price increases. And on here, several people have shared similar experiences. The center has publicly threatened reviewers on here with legal action for posting their experiences, which I find concerning. That alone should tell you everything. This review reflects my personal experience and is written honestly and respectfully whether anyone agrees with it or not. I have since removed my child from Open Doors Preschool and transferred him to another provider, where he is now thriving and happy and I as a parent have so much peace. The only decent thing I have to say about this place, is that they had very sweet teachers and that the two front desk employees are also very nice and helpful. (Even though they too seem frustrated when they have to relay whatever the principal should be discussing herself). In other words, she hides behind these two girls, and I can only imagine as an employee how frustrating that may be at times. I absolutely do not recommend Open Doors Preschool to any family — especially families using ELC.

The office staff and teachers are incredibly friendly. The love and support they show to both the children and families is truly amazing. My child comes home happy every day, which means everything to me.

Best Daycare in the area! All the teachers are amazing but Ms.Mel worked wonders with my oldest son. He enters Kindergarten this school year and scored really well on his entrance exam. This daycare not only provides outstanding care but also prepares OUR kids to succeed in their next chapter of life. We are greatful and are looking forward to our next child be part of this family!

I love open door preschool, top pick by far. I give them all the credit for potty training my son and teaching him to stand and not sit. It take a village and this daycare plays a big part in teaching, he even known the basics in spanish( color, number, etc) and he's just 3. Staff and managment is friendly and helpful. My son has recently been having bad behavior problems but there is one teacher that he loves and that's Ms. Mel. He ask for her has soon has he walks in the building and he is a perfect angel when he is with her. I appreciate the bond he has created with her.

I highly recommend Open Doors of Lehigh Acres. The teachers and staff are amazing and they truly care about the children. Miss Yanet in (June bugs) and her team are the best teachers and caregivers I’ve encountered, my daughter Emily truly loves going to her class every morning and she absolutely adores Miss Yanet and her wonderful team. The quality and care is outstanding exceeding my expectations every time. The teachers and staff are dedicated to providing exceptional care and great service to our kids.
