I enjoy the Y in Westchase because it isn't huge and loud. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The trainer I work with Melinda Lewis is very knowledgeable and patient with me. She is able to read me and know when I need to take it easy or when I am capable of stepping it up to the next level. She is always willing to give me suggestions on ways to continue my routine when I'm on my own or at home. I feel safe and the facility is very clean and the music conducive to motivate during a workout. Never too soft or too loud. Parking is usually no problem. My only suggestion is that perhaps you might consider the use of aromatherapy to make the smell of the facility more enjoyable during a workout.

I’m new to this YMCA, I went to attend the Body Balance Class as it was named on the July , August , and September class schedule, I recently had spine fusion’s and deal with Parkinson’s Disease. Balance is something I would like to work on. When I got to the class , students were doing Stand Up Yoga vigorously stretching their bodies in all different directions, up and down , barefoot and on mats. I’m a lot disappointed in the facility, I gave it 3 stars for the EXCELLENT STAFF , pool and workout facilities, if and when I’ll be able to utilize those.

Gym Area: While the gym area is functional, there's a notable difference compared to larger fitness centers like LA Fitness. Some equipment may be older but remains operational, providing basic fitness amenities. Overall Impression: Northwest Family YMCA emerges as an okay facility, notable for its family-friendly approach. Despite limitations in infrastructure and equipment variety compared to larger fitness chains, it maintains a positive environment with friendly staff and diverse offerings, making it a suitable choice for a broad demographic.

Even though this is generally a good place, my experience was disappointing on two occasions. I enrolled my son in swimming lessons twice, each time with a different instructor, and unfortunately the outcome was the same. The young instructors seemed to lack experience in working with children, especially those with special needs or who are more energetic. Because of this, I would not recommend these lessons for families in similar situations.

It's a great place to bring our family, people is mostly kind and nice, it feels safe, plus we feel motivated to work towards a healthy mind and body
