Ebels is THEE place to process your deer. I’ve been using them for about 3 years now. They do an excellent job cutting meats and their summer sausage is enough to make you enjoy life again. It hasn’t been without problems though. My second time, they didn’t give me any roasts as I requested but I wasn’t too upset. Still got a decent yield. Last season, they had a hiccup and couldn’t find my other deer I dropped off, but one of the butchers worked hard to find it. Luckily, it was just filed incorrectly! Other than that scare, they have been great. Their prices are bit high in store but the deer processing fees are perfect. The gun department in the hardware section is always a treat too.
Only place we get our livestock processed! Love the options for other bulk type meat varieties when freezer is low. Usually have great deals when I'm there too!
First time shopping at Ebels. I was excited as I have not purchased a whole pig in some while. They processed the oinker very quickly, but the smoking of the bacon took longer. It was out of their control. Not a big deal. I drove almost 3 hours to get there and was impressed by their offerings in the store. Picked up my pig at the building out back and did not verify that my bacon was part of my order. I didn't notice until I was home. All I had to do was give Melissa a call and she promptly sent me the bacon via Fed-Ex. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Will be going back.
I would leave a 5 star for the deer processing that we recently had done with Elbels. Although they are expensive the quality and taste of their jerky and Italian sausage is worth the price! My one and only complaint is the random size of the burger packages. All different and none marked so you have no idea how many lbs are in each. It would be nice to have the burger and sausage package in uniform 1 lbs packages with only the last package being irregular as it’s what’s left and understandable.
Really kind of depends on what day you go but the staff has always friendly and goods are well stocked. Some things are a little costly but for a small town with a great grocery store you would expect that. It sure beats Meijer or Walmart. I always stop when I'm in the area.
