What Parents Say
Morrison Family YMCA in Charlotte receives mixed to positive feedback. Parents praise the preschool program's talented teachers, communication with families, and facility amenities, but report issues with facility maintenance, staff behavior, and program quality in some areas.
Morrison YMCA is a disappointment. We sent our kids to summer camps here. They put them in the wrong camps. They didn't bother checking the names and sorting the students to the right class. They used "size" as an indicator whether they should go to day camp or visual arts camp. They also do not give membership rates to members unless you are a member throughout the entire duration of membership subscription to camp completion, which is approximately 6 months. They note this "policy" in a corner of the website, not at checkout for a particular camp. Just overall horrible experience with the YMCA.
Have loved this place for 3 years. Every morning. Unfortunately, their morning openers recently hired are rude and mock members and talk/joke about them. We can hear a lot from the upper fitness center. I am beginning to see why everyone is bailing for Crunch and other gyms.
The staff is great and the facility is clean but some of the people who come here are absolute slobs, Kids and adults. They treat this place like a trash can and leave the gym and bathrooms a mess. Somehow there’s always urine everywhere on the bathroom floor
The Morrison YMCA is always a disappointment. The women's family bathroom, which is the only one accessible from the pool, is always disgusting. No improvements whatsoever have been done since this YMCA opened. The showers don't work properly, no hot water, no changing rooms, no working blow dryers, just disgusting. Shame on the CEO and the board for not making this a premier YMCA. I have traveled all over the country and visited many YMCA's and this is truly one of the worst.
Gymnastics here feels like daycare in spandex. Over the past hour I think the kids have spent 9 minutes total on skills, the rest of the time they sent sitting up against the wall watching other kids while trying to pull their loose teeth out in the mirror. My athletic kid has been in class since January and still can’t do a cartwheel. Feels like they are just doing the bare minimum.
