What Parents Say
Guidepost Montessori School of Las Colinas receives overwhelmingly positive reviews, with parents praising the Montessori curriculum, clean facilities, and exceptional leadership communication. However, one detailed negative review raises concerns about staff professionalism, lack of attention to children, insufficient documentation of activities, and alleged resistance to enrolling children with developmental delays.
My toddler was at a daycare prior to joining Guidepost - Las Colinas. I was nervous to pull him out of his prior daycare but after doing some research, meeting with Sydney and Jamila, and getting to tour and sit in on a typical day at Guidepost - I was sold. My toddler has shown such great developmental progress since joining Guidepost and the guides take such great care of him. I also appreciate how willingly the school keeps parents involved and their positive attitudes each and every day. My toddler adjusted so quickly because of the comfortable (and clean) environment Guidepost Las Colinas creates on a daily basis.
When my wife and I considered childcare for our son we knew we didn’t want to just take him anywhere. We were very concerned with his continued growth and development. We started him as an infant and he is now a thriving independent toddler. He began his Montessori journey at a location but due to us having to relocate we were glad to find this location just in our backyard! He loves the staff and is deeply immersed in the program. From an infant until now, each of his teachers have keep us updated about his day to day activities and that’s comforting as any parent thinks about their little one(s) throughout the day. We are also kept up to date via weekly communications from the Head of School and she’s extremely knowledgeable and concerned about every child that’s enrolled. I’ve seen other programs in our area but nothing is comparable to Guidepost Las Colinas!
I didn’t want to have to leave this review but here we go. My son started at this school in May of ‘24 as a 2.5 yr old. We are now taking him out December ‘24 so everyone is aware. 1. The staff is extremely unprofessional. There were incidents of the assistant head of school speaking negatively about parents to other parents. There has been SEVERAL times where I walk into a class to pick up my son and see the extended day guides on their phones and not paying attention to the children. 2. The guides are careless. My son has come home many times with dry food or glue on his glasses to where he couldn’t see out of them. If the staff cared, they would take the 1 minute it takes to wipe his glasses off. He’s also come home with dried glue stuck in his hair. This is also something that could’ve been cleaned off with water in one minute. 3. The head of school and assistant head of school DO NOT have your child in their best interest. They have their behinds in their best interest. - they did not want to advance my son into the children’s house class because of a minor speech delay and NORMAL toddler behavior. They are NOT ACCEPTING of children who don’t act and talk just like theirs. 4. They rarely upload progress reports or pictures of your child’s daily activities. 5. They have new staff coming in and out of this school monthly it seems. If your child is not walking or talking normally, DO NOT enroll your child here. It is a waste of time and money..and quite frankly, energy! I’m extremely baffled with the fact that they aren’t accepting of my son when they talk about loving and caring so much for these kids. They are deceiving. They will make you feel like it is your fault! Don’t let Jamila or Sydney manipulate you.
If I could give more stars I would. Our children joined after a rather difficult transition from their prior school and Guidepost at Las Colinas has gone above and beyond to truly give our kiddos the highest quality of care. The materials, curriculum, food, teachers it’s all amazing. But we had most of those at our last school, what’s made the biggest difference here has been how outstanding the head of school and assistant head of school are. They constantly make themselves available for clear communication and feedback is always received with openness and validation. You can visibly see how deeply they care for the kiddos at this school and that has been amazing to us as parents.
We have loved our first several months at Guidepost Montessori Las Colinas. The Head of School sends a weekly newsletter which makes us feel so connected to the school. The Assistant HOS helps with so many of my questions at drop off and goes above and beyond in planning events for the families to stay connected and informed about their child’s class. Each of our lead guides are great communicators and we feel our children are truly loved by their caregivers when we drop them off. It’s also so wonderful walking into a clean and carefully crafted campus each morning. Thank you, Guidepost team for pouring into our children!
