This place is a scam! I am extremely disappointed and honestly hurt by my experience with Metropolitan Ministries. I attended the required orientation, which lasted about an hour, and was told I needed to gather extensive documentation to prove my need for rental assistance. I followed every instruction given, took time to collect paperwork, and even had my landlord complete forms on my behalf. When I returned for my appointment, I waited nearly two hours just to be seen. During that time, the front desk staff behaved in a very unprofessional and insensitive manner. What disturbed me the most was hearing my personal situation being discussed openly within earshot of others in the waiting area. Financial hardship is already difficult and embarrassing enough without staff publicly discussing private information. This felt like a serious violation of dignity and privacy. The most frustrating part of this entire process was the actual assistance offered. I only needed help covering approximately $370 in rent. After completing orientation, gathering documents, and waiting for hours, I was told the maximum assistance was $350 — yet I was then informed I would still have to pay a portion, leaving the organization only willing to provide about $185. After everything required of me, the level of help offered felt discouraging and almost dismissive of the effort and urgency of my situation. Programs designed to help vulnerable individuals should prioritize compassion, respect, and transparency. Instead, I left feeling judged, exposed, and unsupported. The lack of clear communication about assistance limits, the excessive wait time, and the handling of sensitive personal information made this experience deeply upsetting. I truly hope Metropolitan Ministries reevaluates its staff training, privacy practices, and communication with clients. People seeking help are often already in stressful and vulnerable situations and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. And I hope they really start helping people out financially as they say they are. BEWARE IN ORDER TO GET EVEN JUST THAT TINY LITTLE DENT OF $350, YOU FIRST HAVE TO COME UP WITH YOUR PORTION. AND THEN THEY WILL STILL PROBABLY NOT HELP.

Assisting at the Metropolitan Ministries is an incredible way to contribute to our local community. It provides a fantastic opportunity for business teams and families with children over 14 years old. The memories created from such a meaningful activity will certainly be treasured by oneself, family, and friends. The staff there are incredibly professional, amicable, and motivating, whether it's at the kitchen or the thrift store. I've personally arranged numerous events with my company and every time we're there, we're filled with a positive spirit, ready to be a part of this wonderful endeavor. Knowing that you're assisting others at a time when they need it most provides immense satisfaction. Everyone involved, like myself, has realized the great value in these experiences. A sincere thank you to each participant engaged in this noble cause and doing their part for our community. Volunteers may not always have abundant free time but they indeed do possess bountiful hearts. Your contributions as volunteers substantially make an impact on the world, and for that, our gratitude is ever-present. By observing your actions, the true meaning of volunteering comes to life.

I was there back when covid hit with my children and they were very polite and helpful. I received counseling, and support. They help me to get back on my feet. They didnt make me feel homeless. My kids and I had our own beds, and room. This place even got us a hotel when we couldn't stay there at night due to the cold. They are really heart of God type people. I would reccomend anyone with children or family to come here.

I am grateful for the services I received from here and the services they provide for the public. What I didn’t appreciate was the way the social worker Annmarie talked about me to the white receptionist in the main lobby in front of everyone! The lack of respect for privacy, and professionalism from someone with such a high title was disgusting and traumatizing because if she could talk about me like that in public I can imagine how she speak about me or anyone else in private. To make matters worse, I reached out to her supervisor and left a voicemail while I was still in the building and I never got a response still to this day and this was over a month ago. She blamed her lack of communication on me not receiving the services I needed on time when I have every unanswered email I sent to her. Customer relations isn’t a field for her or her supervisor as both of their actions show it isn’t. This very behavior is why so many people don’t like to reach out for help. I shouldn’t have been treated the way I was and if I still don’t get remedy I’ll be taking my complaint higher!!! The news live showing their good side but I’ll go to every news station and tell how folks are really treated just to get services that’s meant for them!

It's not a good place to receive financial help. They will make you attend orientation; which I did. Then, you must complete all requirements (which are lots of documents and a financial course certificate. You must complete the course to receive the certificate) to receive $350; I did that. Then, you make an appointment for an interview to be seen by a specialist to help you with what you need; I did that! I signed a pending letter to make sure I bring the cost of my rent down to $350 ( then they are supposed to pay the remaining amount of $350). I did that. But I get an email the same day of completing everything and signing off on the agreement. The email says, "They won't be helping to pay their portion of my rent because funds ran out." Then they tell me to apply AGAIN the next month. I don't need help for the following month. I am in dire need of summer months. It's crazy that you can be telling the truth, but they will assure you they will help; then they will bail out on you. If you come to them in dire need, make sure you've made other arrangements or have a backup because you will definitely be evicted or without lights, food, or whatever. ****UPDATE: I have to post an update on the help I received with my light bill. Even though, my opinions haven't changed about the original review I posted, I did get help with my light bill instead! I am very grateful for the help I received there (even though it was for something else). I've also changed my star rating from 1 to 3 stars!
