Just Us Kids

I had a very disappointing experience with Just Us Kids in West Lafayette. From the start, it was clear that their main priority seemed to be collecting money rather than providing quality care for children. Despite being the most expensive daycare in the area, the level of service was shockingly poor. The staff's attitude was far from welcoming, and I felt the care provided was not only inadequate but at times, downright cruel. The environment was not as nurturing or supportive as I would expect for such a costly service. For parents looking for a place where their children can feel safe, valued, and well cared for, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, this experience was a complete letdown.

As a parent to a toddler who went here and knew someone working here, I can't recommend this place. Very few photos of my daughter were taken, and when they were, they were photos of her isolated, with no interaction with other kids or supervisors. Feedback on her day-to-day activities, behaviors, and progress were only received the first few days. Other than that it was just times she ate, slept, and used the bathroom. The individual who worked there shared with me that she saw my daughter's (and other children's) caregivers on their phones, ignoring the children unless someone acted up, to which the most common response was just to yell at the kids. My daughter was never happy or even comfortable or relaxed about being dropped off there. I personally distinctly remember one time asking her caregiver if she could hold or pick up my daughter since I needed to get to work and she was clinging to me, and she rolled her eyes at me, sighed and said "Fine." The individual I knew who worked there had a supervisor with eight years LESS experience than her who bossed her around, was condescending and controlling, gossiped and complained about her behind her back (she overheard her on more than one occasion), and yelled at the children frequently. Staff are not treated well here. Not only are they required to take 30 HOURS of training UNPAID (in their own time), but are often told they need to get a CDA (which they have to pay for) in order to keep their jobs. I am barely giving this place two stars. I'd like to give it just one, but in fairness, they had some before and after school care teachers who were amazing (my older daughter liked them a lot) and there are some teachers who are genuinely trying their best. Other than that, I was extremely disappointed with my experience.

Just Us Kids is the best and we're thankful for the time our kids spent here! They're excellent at communication and we love that there's a park nearby for the little ones to take daily walks. They get other little things right -- like toddler buggy rides at the end of the day and on-site laundry. The teachers and administration all did a great job! They're also very responsive over the app and offer regular conferences.

I feel so incredibly lucky that my kids were able to get in! The people here are professional and kind, and it is so obvious how much they care. It is such a relief to walk into their facility and see so many smiling faces. The teachers are communicative and my kids love it here. I feel at ease throughout the day, knowing my kids are truly cared for and wanted.

Our kids really like JUK! Our daughter started in the infant room and our son in the toddler room. They are always clean at pickup, they are enriched, and I feel like their teachers genuinely care about them.
