What Parents Say
Reviews are mixed, with most praising the facility's amenities, cleanliness, and friendly staff. However, one parent specifically noted concerns about the daycare being understaffed and poorly equipped to handle certain children. Several reviewers also mentioned issues with crowding, misleading hours, and inconsistent staff professionalism.
So I’ve really debated on writing a review for this place over the last year. The issues I would run into here would just come and go so much that I found it pointless to say anything. The main reason I restrained from posting is the generic general responses that I see to other reviews. That and I don’t want my experience at this location to be further complicated. Although now I find myself willingly writing this review after tonight’s visit. There are two main issues I have had continual problems with and one semi minor issue with. 1. The front desk staff can be somewhat rude and dismissive of guests as they come and go. Normally I would just shrug this off because they tend to be the younger staff members. Although tonight as I was leaving the bigger blonde haired woman was just the tipping point. She had to be in her mid to late 30’s, from my perspective, and had more interest in her phone than anything else. She gave no notice to people coming in and was slightly rude as I was leaving. The gentleman behaving the counter, who has been there for quite some time, was nice and what you’d expect from a service representative. Although that lady leaves you with a sour feeling as you exit. This seems to be a typical complaint from others on here so I doubt this will be addressed and is considered to be the norm. 2. The amount of cussing, horseplay, and unsupervised kids I see in the weight room is not what I would expect from the YMCA as an organization. There is typically a staff member posted in the weight room but, they tend to either be chatting with someone or lost in their phone at the desk. 3. People recording themselves in the weight room. It’s a pet peeve of mine when others do this in a private gym. It’s a private space due to having to participate in a membership program. So, there is an expectation of privacy when you go there. Although again, this is not addressed by staff. Overall it’s rather disheartening to go here with the lack of pride the employees have for their job and maintaining the expected environment.
Cannot recommend the Huber Heights YMCA enough!! Been a member for over 5 years and always have the best interactions with the staff/front desk employees. With the new additions to the facility, it has been a great place to take my family and workout or play basketball. It’s always clean and organized and the staff are always welcoming and friendly!!
I can read energy in a room, and the fact that my child and I was standing at the front desk for two minutes as two woman (one was the director of the childcare department. She has bad bleached blonde hair. The other lady with brunette colored hair with glasses was a regular worker) and they looked straight at me, literally wasn’t doing anything but standing there. Then the brunette hair lady went to the back, did whatever she was doing. Bleached blonde lady was literally standing there. Literally was ignored, but could say hi and thank you to everyone else…. Already let me know they’re not good at customer service. I was there to get my child and I a membership, so I knew that the process would be long, and they did a decent job getting us through the process. It’s not even about the facility because as far as what I’ve seen, it’s nice in my opinion. It’s just the customer service as to why I rate this a two. But definitely could have better customer service. Sorry not sorry, but this location can act like they’re planet fitness bougie. It just the ymca.
Been a regular at this gym for almost 5 years now & it has gotten better and better each year. They take pride in allowing this gym to be a safe place for everyone of all ages to come and enjoy. Very clean & great staff!
Super disappointed in the lack of understanding and compassion demonstrated by this organization that claims to promote social responsibility. Typically the YMCA is known to be a helping organization in the community. I did not get this experience. When I called in, the call center girl was not friendly, did not demonstrate empathy or understanding for what I was explaining. I had started the conversation by asking for the director or a supervisor and the call rep refused. I called back and left a message for the executive director. I then got a call back from someone who was taking the messages for the executive director. The Y at The Heights was unwilling to help me, adding even more stress to my already overwhelming situation. I work full-time, I am a single parent to 3 children and a full-time caregiver to a parent with Alzheimers. Shame of you Y at the Heights. You are not a friend to the community or those who need understanding and compassion. I give this organization, that truly only cares about $$$, zero stars
