What Parents Say
Howard Levine Child Development Center receives consistently high praise from parents and visitors. The facility is noted for its cleanliness, attentive and caring staff, and positive learning environment, particularly since coming under new management by Dixon Academy. Parents appreciate regular communication about their children's progress and the genuine care demonstrated by teachers.
I strongly do NOT recommend this place. The director’s behavior is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. She shows a clear pattern of racist and discriminatory attitudes, and treats parents with hostility instead of respect. Concerns are ignored rather than resolved, and there is absolutely no accountability. The constant staff turnover is alarming. There are frequently no teachers available, which creates instability and raises serious concerns about the safety and well-being of the children. A school should be a safe, supportive environment — this place fails completely in providing that. Parents deserve transparency, professionalism, and basic respect. Unfortunately, this establishment offers none of those
If I could leave ZERO stars I would. My Niece got hit on her butt & mouth by the 1 year old teacher. The Director refused to show to cameras & then proceeded to delete the video. They also failed to give my sister an incident report on what occurred. There’s more to the story but I don’t want to say anything they could use against her in court!
Honest Review from a Concerned Parent I enrolled my daughter in this daycare with high hopes for a safe and nurturing environment, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing and concerning. Safety Concerns: My daughter suffered an injury at the facility. When I brought my concerns to leadership, I felt that they were dismissed rather than addressed with appropriate seriousness. Unclear Disciplinary Practices: I became aware of troubling incidents involving staff behavior and safety that, in my view, were not handled with the transparency or urgency I would expect from a childcare provider. Parent and Staff Feedback Ignored: I observed a pattern where both parents' and staff members' concerns were not taken seriously, which raised questions for me about the overall culture and leadership. Diversity and Sensitivity Issues: Based on my observations and conversations, I felt there were signs of racial insensitivity, particularly in how concerns from Black female staff members were perceived and handled. Leadership Accountability: In my personal experience, communication with the director lacked the accountability and professionalism I hoped for in a childcare setting. I ultimately chose to withdraw my daughter and encourage other parents to ask detailed questions and trust their instincts when evaluating childcare options. Every child deserves to feel safe and supported, and every parent deserves to feel heard.
I visit the school as an RBT. The facility is well kept, the children are fed well, and the classes are maintained. There is a shortage of staff, which I feel is a persisting issue around Charlotte, and surrounding areas; especially within the educational sector. However, each staff is held to a reasonable level of accountability. Mrs. Caitlyn and Ms. Erin are amazing and their students really love them. You can tell that they care just by the simple things that they do. There is more to teaching than just text book educating. The love and patience that I’ve seen emitted from the staff is unmatched.
I had a terrible experience with this CMS prek program. I expressed concerns multiple times and never received a response. With this being my child’s first experience in school I am rethinking public schools. The classroom were also never cleaned. I stayed to help clean in the mornings just so the kids can be in a clean environment.
