My son has been at the Greenwood School for a little over 2 years now. I absolutely love the school, staff, and kids there. The teachers are very understanding and honest about how your child is doing. They are very loving but firm (in a great way). My son is currently going through a phase where he doesn't like to listen, but the teachers don't get frustrated with him, and will also tell me the good and bad of the day. This I really appreciate as it keeps the family and school on the same page. I cannot recommend them enough and am very blessed to have my child in a wonderful and nurturing environment. It is also very diverse which I like a lot.
My child loves it here. Sure, it might not be the most scenic of locations (in a basement with windows looking at a wall; although they do have a decent, protected outdoor playground), but the teachers are very good, the toys and learning equipment is extremely diverse, and they offer the kids an incredible amount of activities. Greenwood daycare used to primarily cater to office/government employees in that same and adjacent buildings, but now has a broad variety of kids from parents with very diverse backgrounds (including nearby science and education centers, e.g., UMD, NASA, NOAA, etc.).
My child went to greenwood for a year, and while the teachers were nice, she had issues with one of the other workers kids that were bulling her and other class mates. I let the director know and she never did anything about it. It got so bad that my child came home with marks where the child and hit her. I called the police and to make it all go away she waive the fees for the whole year. Come to find out I was not the only parent that had the same issues.
The teachers are so kind and supportive; our son has grown so much since attending!
This school is such a gem to the community! The teachers are all fantastic! From Ms Courtney to Mr Eduardo, to Ms Theresa and Ms Nicola, the staff and administration are thoughtful, caring, and inspirational.
