What Parents Say
Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Alexandria operates an associated school that parents describe as a nurturing, loving environment with caring staff and strong academic outcomes. The church community is welcoming to families of all backgrounds, with a vibrant mix of ages and active involvement in local ministries. Parents consistently praise the warm atmosphere and sense of community for both children and adults.
I’ve been a member of Emmanuel for more than 10 years, and there is not a more caring church community or a better priest (Chuck McCoart) in Alexandria. The parish is vibrant, a mix of young families, families with teens, empty nesters and retirees. There are activities for all tastes and styles, and the church makes meaningful contributions to its neighbors in the way of support for refugee families, Carpenter’s Shelter, ALIVE! and other ministries. Sunday worship is never pretentious or formal - it’s easy for both regulars and newcomers to follow the service and participate. There are events throughout the year that offer opportunities to get to know fellow parishioners, and seeing my own kids develop genuine relationships with people 50 years older than them has been one of the most rewarding parts of belonging to Emmanuel.
This review is for the school associated with this church. I find this space, and more importantly the staff, to be a wonderfully nurturing, loving environment for my grandchild. He leaves kindergarten to be a rising first grader already reading even the most complex words and with math skills more than at grade level. He is proud to be going to Emmanuel School and eager to see his teachers and friends every morning. Thank you all for giving this next generations youth a wonderful place to mature, learn and excel.
We have been attending this church for a year. Chuck, the priest, is wonderful. Thanks to him, the parish has grown dramatically, with lots of young families. It is a warm and welcoming Episcopal Congregation. We felt at home as soon as we entered. The parish hosts newcomer dinners for new members, which are a great way to meet people. We can't recommend this church enough!
Beautiful church with a welcoming and thriving community. Always open to new comers, the staff here take great pride in fostering a place for old faces and new members alike.
Lovely church with a great sense of community. Everyone is very friendly. Lots of young families too!
