They may or may not recognize me after all these years this place helped raise and grow me I can't really give off Pacific names of at the time that I was there but I can tell you it was between 2007 and 2009 I'm meet a lot of wonderful people here and the fact that the college kids from Notre Dame came and took us kids to go hang out and chill even just play with us I was 16 when I ended up here with my family this place was the reason I got to go to high school for a few months and the chef's in the kitchen adored me I remember their names very well I don't know how the place is ran today but I do know back in that time it was ran well but I trust that they continue to do the same for other kids
Great people here at Robert L. Miller Sr. Veteran's Center. We take food, personal care products and supplies each month. We try to get them stuff they don't always get like fresh fruit, cream cheese and bagels and ice cream treats. The staff and Veterans are so appreciative of our visits. It's nice to sit and visit with the Veterans, you here some interesting stories. We do this as part of 2 Men on a Mission. We're proud to serve our Veterans.
Staff are terrible and hate anyone with illnesses. Place is crawling with bed buds and roaches. Staff are lazy and case workers don't keep their schedule appointments they say you need to have to stay in the program then blame you for not rescheduling and get mad when you been to reach them to reschedule. Staff refuse to accommodate but ask how they can help. Food is worse than prison slop. They obviously are pressed by my reviews because they keep getting taken down. Truth hurts huh?
I became homeless on purpose ,,, I have severe tendeniitist in my knees, ankle, feet. From getting my license suspend for life. And walking for 17years before I got them back. Then broke my back and got, sciatica down my back and right leg. To much pain to work , so I quit, got in my car, drove to South bend. Sleeping in my car, working on disability the. center for homeless helped me fiile for permanent housing, I got an apartment for 8 years now,, and disability for 2 years, the center also helped me with all the amenities and furniture for my apartment plus rides to appointments. Andrea and her team are awesome. .
I stayed at the center for a few weeks when I lived in South Bend. …. My father was the co-founder … it was a humbling experience ….& I learned a lot about helping others & about starting over . Lots of love there … thanks Dad
