What Parents Say
Reviews are overwhelmingly positive with a 5/5 average rating. However, the reviews appear to be mixed with content unrelated to daycare services, including comments about college classes, COVID vaccination sites, and campus facilities rather than child care experiences.
Graduated from here with a degree in Mechanical Design Engineering. This place has so much potential if the state would allocate more funding. Most of my instructors really care about teaching the material, but the facilities are tired and in some cases really outdated. It limits their potential, and the potential of the students by extension. They also don't do a great job with community outreach, so enrollment rates are low particularly in programs like mine. It's a shame, because southern Delaware desperately needs a college like this, but the state seems to ignore us.
There are a few reasons why Del Tech might be your best choice: if you didn't have stellar high school grades, if you have a non-traditional background, if you need to save money, or if you need flexibility. Essentially, it was free for me to go and I got a check every now and again that paid my rent. I had a lot of opportunity to grow and learn, but a lot of it felt held back. There were not many ways to get involved on campus because there is not the demand from students. The curriculum is limited, in particular with regards to foreign languages. Most high schools have more options. The teachers were hit or miss with some being kind, dedicated, and conscientious and others being uncaring and frustrating. (Check ratemyprofessor first.) My biggest issue was the handling of COVID-19 because they had zero in-person classes for five semesters straight. Here, you won't get the college experience, but you will get two free years of college classes while being pretty laid back
The general feel of the school is most of the staff are poorly trained or not qualified for the position. The teachers don't really know how to use the online systems they're given and the tech staff often take quite a while to fix the problem. Expect to wait a while to speak to a counselor because they don't take appointments. Also, the school map isn't labelled properly. Multiple classrooms are not listed on the map with their number. I understand it's easy enough to walk in and ask for directions, but its nice to have a general idea of where you're going before walking into the school. The app isn't any better to work with. It's slow, clunky, and poorly setup. These are just a few complaints out of many, so consider other options before enrolling here.
I'm a international student and this is the worst institution that I've ever been, I studied ESL program to know English before continue with Programming; the teachers were so mean, a lot of them treat the students like idiots, and they don't care if you learn something or if you need help, in all the classes they're going to read the student guides that is in the platform, same thing if you're taking classes in person, you're going to end fulfill with a lot of paper that you can reach in the website with the student ID. With the pandemic. The college said that graduates of 2020 were supposed to receive their diploma via mail and guess what? It's 2022 and we haven't received it yet. I went to the student building a week ago to claim my certificate, and they didn't even complain with the excuse that was send a year ago, they told me that will print it a send me via mail AGAIN, but this is the time that I haven't received anything.
I am very upset at the fact that I'm stuck and DTCC wont help me. I need a copy of my high school transcript from High School. You're probably thinking "well, call the high school. I did and guess what?! They're unable to locate it. Why? It was still on paper and a natural disaster happened. A few years ago the high school I attended in Puerto Rico had earth quakes which made the schools collapse with all that information. The information was rescued but no one now knows where it is. So DTCC has a copy of it of when I first attended Dtcc but bc of their policy then cant release it to anyone, not even the high school. Pretty stupid if you ask me. Its my information and I need it. I'm also frustrated with the institution I'm enrolling in because they want the high school transcript. Like for what? I have an associates degree which means I've been through high school if not no one would've admitted me to college. Long story short I am not able to further my education because no one is willing to help. How can one progress if all I have are stones along the way. In a situation like this there should be exceptions. So frustrated right now.
