Children'S House Montessori School

My son started his Montessori journey in Kindergarten at Children’s House and we had a great experience. The teachers and staff are committed to creating a very caring and supportive learning environment for the kids promoting independence and well rounded growth following Montessori philosophy. The ratio of students to teachers is low and the school backs up to the woods offering a lovely, natural playground and opportunities for the children to take hikes just behind the school. They had a wonderful art program where our son learned about a variety of artists throughout the year and created a wonderful art portfolio, copying the style of each artist.

Children’s House was amazing! With COVID we had to scramble to find a kindergarten. A good friend used to work at Children’s house and said stop wasting your time and get your son enrolled! They were so kind, loving, and were also great teachers. It was heartwarming to see his comfort and confidence grow in the short one year we were there. We still go back to visit, we love them all so much (the teachers and staff)!

Our son attended Children’s House Montessori School for three years — preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten — and we couldn’t be more grateful for the experience. The nurturing environment and thoughtful approach to learning helped him grow tremendously, both academically and personally. The Montessori philosophy truly shines here. By the time he entered first grade, he was not only well-prepared academically but also remarkably independent and confident. He also developed long-lasting friendships that continue to be an important part of his life, a testament to the warm and supportive community fostered at the school. A special thank you to Ms. Helena, whose guidance and dedication were instrumental in his development. The entire staff is warm, caring, and deeply committed to the children. Ms. Cinthia was always incredibly supportive, and our son especially loved Ms. Shoruk, whom he still talks about fondly and misses dearly. If we had one “complaint,” it’s that they made him almost too independent — now he insists on doing everything himself… but we say that with a smile and deep gratitude. We highly recommend Children’s House Montessori School to any family looking for a place where their child can thrive, build independence, form meaningful friendships, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

I highly recommend Children’s House Montessori School of Reston! The teachers are kind and supportive to each child, truly encouraging each to their strengths. The school is true to the their Montessori mission and it has reflected so positively in our children’s development. My children have thrived under the direction of their educators. I am confident that this school has set a solid foundation for their learning path and that they have developed a true love for learning as a result.

I have had at least one of my children attending CHMS for the past 3 years and I can say with full confidence that this was the best preschool choice for both of them! Their education at CHMS has been truly wonderful thanks to an amazing group of teachers. They foster learning, exploration, independence and I’ve seen it make such a difference for my kids.
