What Parents Say
Capital City Learning Center receives mixed reviews. Positive reviews praise caring staff, child development, and a welcoming environment. Negative reviews cite concerns about child supervision, COVID-19 safety protocols, long waitlists, and unclear enrollment policies.
I walk by this place every day and feel the need to say something. I have seen many times children exceptionally upset with zero emotional support. Just today a child was screaming and crying (normal, I know), but with zero attention for 15 minutes. She started crying as I walked by and for 15 minutes nobody even bothered to ask the child what was wrong. I sat and watched. Then I walked by again and pointed the child out to a worker. She looked at me blankly and looked the other way. I have seen similar things enough that I feel parents should know and I should say something. Some people may be okay with this approach, but it really is frustrating to me and id want to know if my child was being treated that way. Anyways I hope this review helps in one way or another.
Our daughter loves it here! Anytime we have questions or concerns, we are listened to. They really care for your children and work together as a team with you to make sure the best of care and learning is achieved. Sophia and Karlesha in the toddler room have been absolutely amazing. Even at home our daughter talks about them. We work with our daughter a ton, but know CCLC is a huge help with her already counting to 10, singing ABCs, expressing feelings, and enforcing table manners. The other day she even picked up her breakfast place and tossed it up into the sink - I knew she had to have learned that from daycare LOL. We can not express enough how great they are <3
We have had a wonderful experience with CCLC. My 3 children enjoy going to "school" and have learned so much while being there. The poor reviews previously received are not a reflection of the daycare or staff. All daycares are on long waitlists...
I enrolled my 3 month old children, who were born prematurely, at CCLC during the pandemic-June of 2021. Within one month they had contracted Covid from the center. We heard directly from staff members that another staff member tested positive. The owner, Kris, denied that there had been any exposure. Kris neglected to follow any of the recommended CDC guidelines to mitigate the spread of Covid. When asked for a copy of the policy, I was told there was none. In fact the handbook had not been updated since 2016. I'll spare you the details, but Kris was negligent and willfully disregarded the safety and health of his staff and children under his care. Upon speaking with friends about my experience, I had 2 families share eerily similar stories. I pulled my children from this daycare as did the other families. I'm writing this review to help you make an informed decision about the care of your child(ren). If I knew that CCLC was as neglectful as they are I would not have sent my children there to begin with. While Covid is a special circumstance, how businesses conducted themselves during the pandemic shows their true colors. Unfortunately, we had to learn the hard way.
The daycare itself may be fine, but it takes several years to get your newborn in. We put our 18-month-old and unborn baby on the list a year ago (September 2018) and were told the newborn wouldn’t be able to start until Sept. 2019. Yesterday (July 2019) I was told it would be 1-2 more YEARS. Obviously we’ve had other care for our kids thus far, so I took our names off the list. Don’t see the point in keeping them on. Kids will be in kindergarten before they could get in there.
